Reaping the Whirlwind - For BAT!
« on: August 24, 2019, 10:34:29 AM »

Yes, those converted campaigns for BAT will keep coming. This one uses one of my favourite aircraft, and one of the most beautiful in the game, the Westland Whirlwind:

This is semi-historical static campaign, 12 missions long, for the Whirlwind, portraying the action of a RAF Squadron based in southern England during 1941. You will try a mix of typical Whirlwind missions: low-level "Rhubarbs" over France, go hunting for German surface vessels, Channel patrols etc.

You can download it here: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1779

The random element in this campaign is pretty high, as it makes use of both the C&C Mod and an alternate mission structure, with each mission coming in two versions, the game picking one at random. This means that the missions will vary a lot, even if you replay them. Things like the opposition (number and skill), the weather, the time of day is randomized, and sometimes your mission will be completely uneventful - just like in real life!

This one has been built by me and Edc1 in cooperation. He has done a wonderful job, not just converting it, but making several important changes. So the credits go to him as well. (And, of course, to all modders who made this campaign possible, not least 101tfs, who built the wonderful Whirly!) With the current version of BAT a lot of old material is finally reaching a state of perfection very hard to achieve in earlier versions or mod packs. Now it is harvest time for modded IL-2 1946!  :D

Some shiny screenies here:

Thanks for looking!  :)

Thanks a lot.
One the coolest aircraft of that period. It will be a pleasure to fly it through whole campaign.

Well done Poltava. A lovely fighter if rather underpowered. I look forward to out turning a 109 at low level which it apparently could on many an occasion.

The Whirlwind was the main reason for constructing my first modded Il-2 installation, CUP. It's very good to have, at last, an entire campaign in the type. Thanks again, Poltava!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
