The light problem in ailerons is a classic issue. In trying to make the trailing edge as thin as possible, modders have a natural tendency to weld the vertices of upper and lower surface in a single edge so as to generate an aileron mesh of triangular section.
This  a mistake.
The right way to do so is to build the aileron as a mesh of trapezoid section, with a trailing edge which is in fact a trailing surface, reducing the thickness of this surface as much as possible.
The solution to the Hs126 is therefore:
1) separate upper surface from the mesh and slightly push its trailing edge upwards.
2) in edit poly mod bridge the trailing edge of both upper and lower surfaces - this will create this trailing edge polygon
3) in edit mesh mod select successively the vertices of both upper and lower surfaces on the other edges and weld them
4) smooth if needed upper and lower surfaces separately.

A quick fix is sometimes possible depending how the mesh was done:
1) select upper surface of the aileron
2) detach to object
3) smooth upper surface and lower surface separately

Very nice !

Also, there is a B in the works : https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,54029.msg587761.html#msg587761...

Would be nice to have them all together in one pack !

Hello Gaston, I went as far as I could with that version so it remains as was unless someone wants to do anything further. ;)

At the time there were parts I asked 101 to make for me but got no reply so I did the armament changes and gave it a cockpit class and shipped it as was, it was released soon after the one by Edlor and I thought it might be possible to put everything together with maybe a purpose built cockpit for all, unfortunately things did not go that way and ill health shelved many things I wanted to do anyway.

The Edlor version was still in work, Dreamk finalised the armament by adding the smoke making ability and I always intended to sort out the damage model and so that is what I am trying to do at the moment.

After that, back to my Thorneycroft.

Thank you very much for the information Dreamk, I will go through the remaining problem areas and try to sort things out, I am also going to separate what should be the flaps although I do not know if the java already includes them I will give it a go.

This really has become a ordeal. :D

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Glad you like the changes so far OLD_DAD. 8)

After much tinkering using the advice from Dreamk I think I am getting there, but this is going to be a slow job I feel
as I do not have the tools most guys have in 3ds max I have to find ways of doing similar stuff using what is in gmax,
it has been tedious to say the least but progress is there. ;)

The mid wing is now looking good as is the now separated flap:

As for the flap, well at least I now know the java to move it is the class files:

I will get those flaps working properly eventually, honest. :D

Take care and be safe.

Thanks for kind answer, Mission_bug. Health first ! So, take care of yourself. The community can wait.

I am trying some new medication for the pain Gaston, so far so good as it takes away some of the sharpness and shock
when moving the arms and neck, fingers crossed going forward things might settle a bit and bring a little comfort, the Jury
is still out on this but I live in hope. ;)

As for the other Hs-126, maybe a request to Vasya to update the FM might be a good idea Gaston, the aircraft itself already has many
of the weapon options, the main omission is that the smoke dispensing system is not there merely a tank I used as a placeholder if memory
serves but it is still a great usable version.

Things with this version are going okay at the moment, I separated the area from the right wing mid to make room for a cloned version of the
left flap to use on that side as well as tidying the upper outer wing tips:

I will leave the flap movement for later on and concentrate first on the problem shine areas, things are coming on though,
next the ailerons for the main wings. 8)

Right, I am now going to spend the rest of the day listening to football, everything else can wait for a day or so. :D

Take care and be safe.

Hello again guys, just a bit of a update on the lighting repairs. ;)

The upper surfaces are now as good as I can get, some things were quite easy, others could
take most of the day off and on to get close but we are there:

Same as for the underside:

The tail also came in for some treatment as there was a nasty issue at the back although
I had to leave the wheel cover or whatever it is underneath:

There are some issues on all the parts, however, I am just doing the main ones where it really
was a eyesore, next up is to get those flaps working properly if I can, I will save that for another
day I think. :D

Take care and be safe.

Great work, thanks!

Glad you like things so far Herb, really appreciated. 8)

The model now has the working flaps aligned:

I need to add the Co-Commons to them and the D1 and D2 meshes and we are nearly there, just a few
bits and pieces to tinker with. :o

Very nice, Pete!

Glad you are happy with it so far Dreamk, thank you very much for the help, really appreciated. 8)

Many of the faces that were smoothed I just re-attached but did not actually weld those vertices up again as
I did not want to mess too much with things in case I made them worse, not sure if it is the right way but so far
it does not seem to cause any issues although if you look closely you can see some of the edges where they are
separated.

There was a small area on the starboard side of the rudder that seemed to need some attention, it is only a tiny area,
however, quite noticeable when the light catches it so I eventually decided to add it to the list.  :P

I do like to create work for myself it seems, once the rudder was loaded into gmax I found
the inner face where it attaches to the keel was missing so decided to close that up using a
piece from the keel:

Many of the edges for wings and such are not mapped in the true sense because they are
along the trailing edge of the surfaces they are part of and so just pick up the colour from
the camouflage pattern, this is true also for the rudder and because those areas are so thin
it is not noticeable, however, for this new addition I actually mapped it to the template due
to how wide it is:

ready for testing, I very much doubt it will be right first time but once I am happy with it I
will again again add the necessary Co-Commons that are sadly absent from many parts and
we should be good for posting a another update:

Right, time to make another brew and fire up the game to see what happens. :D

Take care and be safe.

Excellent 'blog-like' progress report! And good work, with an admirable attention to detail.

Oh, Lordy, how I envy you the use of 3D creation software! My Poor Man's 3D Package, a spreadsheet application, is brutishly crude by comparison. I can only dream about how much *faster* I could work with such a slick tool.
