Dead/Knocked out Tanks (stationary object)
« on: November 05, 2019, 03:36:37 PM »

Hello everybody. Today i had a new idea that in my opinion could be a nice addition in future updates.
I was just building a new mission with some of the beautiful "DEAD" objects present in game (basically they depict the destroyed version of many vehicles/artillery present in-game) and i started wondering if someone already requested a "dead" version also for tanks...It seems not. So i'd like to request some new objects of this type for the future; the main motivation is that dead tanks help a lot to create a detailed and immersive battlefield such as Normandy, Kursk, Stalingrad, etc...

My main idea is the following: a dead version only for a few tanks, basically the most famous/used in WWII such as:

- Pz.Kpwf III ausf. J/M
- Pz.Kpwf IV ausf. F2
- Pz.Kpwf IV ausf. J
- Pz.Kpwf VI Tiger I
- Pz.Kpwf VI B Tiger II
- M4A2 Sherman
- M4A3E8 Sherman "76W"
- M4 Sherman VC "Firefly"
- Crusader Mk.III
- T-34/76 (1942)
- T-34-85
- Chi-Ha

I was thinking that (if possible) it would be nice to have particles instead of a basic "obscured" silhoutte, for example detonated tanks (turret blown away), armor torn apart/broken, turret off-set etc...

I post here some pics of real destroyed tanks, just to clarify my examples:

I hope someone else enjoys my idea and maybe one day make it possible.
Thanks for the attention.

OT a bit sorry nerdness taking over. If i recall correctly the Tiger in that picture wasnt knocked out it simply ran out of gas and was moved because it was in the way, this would be considered a mobility kill . And note the total devastation when the Sherman tanks are hit, it was a known design flaw caused by thin armor and German delay detonation fuses on their AP ammo. later Sherman tanks  had "wet" ammo storage to prevent the cook off caused by a shell explosion.

Bridges can be individually destroyed by right-clicking on them. Can't this be done with other objects? Can't you destroy objects with the destruction tool? Sorry I use FMB sparingly to create very basic missions.

Just tested it out, you can have destroyed tanks with destruction brush. It's the same with stationary aircraft too.

EDITED
These images are just to clarify my concept, i don't know the individual story of each photo unfortunately :)
Venator you mean with the destruction brush or by directory destroying the object? (Right click\destroy object) I just tried in FMB with a static plane, a tank and a ship but i can't destroy them.

Destruction brush, don't remeber there being an option to destroy individual objects.

Yeah there is. In the destruction menu there are 3 customizable options: brush size, % of destruction and brightness of the colored squares. You can destroy single objects by Right Click\Destroy or Restore object. It's quite useful but, just as the destruction brush, it operates only on Objects, not stationary units. I tried again today bit no effect...could you explain how/send me a screenshot of how you do it?

PM set to you vpmedia.  ;)
Yeah spawning a plane on top of stationary armor works but the it's not the ideal solution. I mean it's workable, but i think that a specialized Object would be more efficient, thus not requiring a sacrificial Piper J3 Cub to obtain the desidered effect   ;D
I know that it requires a lot of work to do a 3D model so i was thinking: is it possibile to obtain the dead meshes from the stationary.ini and then transfer/convert it in a Object?

BAT contains a great many "dead" models of vehicles in the objects list.

I know vampire, i just used them in one of my missions (see screenshots) and they are beautiful indeed, especially with the fires of Dave's Effect Mod. 8)
I manually inserted the flames and smoke over the wrecks of these RSOs and Sdkfz.
The "DEAD" objects in my game start from Object #3872 and at Object #3934 with the dead vehicles, AAA, field guns, AT cannons, howitzers, etc...

Mick these are EXACTLY what i'm requesting here! ]wav[ Downloading now
My request is basically this exact type of object, with more tank variety. Would it be possible?
