tried it now a few times but I had hard times landing on carriers thanks to the weird engine managment in the FM;
this baby should be landed like an early jet and not like a prop fighter;

This plane has no specially developed Flighmodel. It basically is a twin jet aircraft under the hood. The FM uses two Jumo engines which is probably a stop gap solution, I presume? So this is basically a Me-262 that looks like a Fireball.

A mix of a  prop and a jet is possible in the same aircraft. Maybe I'll look into this FM a bit, if that's okay for you, LoneWolf?

Also, the cockpit still causes issues. The current solution is simply overwriting the existing Meteor cockpit, resulting in a mess in the Meteors:

This is not the way to do this. This plane needs a dedicated cockpit class and at least its own hier.him.

As we are dealing with an American Navy plane I would propose using a completely different pit to begin with, the F7F_3 cockpit:

It would also need re-positioning though, it also is too much to the front. But it operates two engines and could be simply cloned and referred to a new hier.him

Please don't get me wrong, I'm just throwing out suggestions and impressions, trying to improve this funny looking animal  :)

Vampire, you are my hero! the F7F shoud be a good start for the cockpit, and I guess the I-250 FM could be the start for the FM; both, the I-250 and the FR-1 should be close in performance, and coincidentally, they were designed for the same job - fast climbing bomber interceptors (against LW jet bombers in the I-250s case and against approaching Kamikazes in the FR-1s)

It was powered by J31 Turbojet Engine used by P-59 Airacomet and Ryan FR Fireball.

thanks, That cockpit piece was easy, I have dedicated classes and a new hier already working.

Edit: removed some incorrect assumptions about 3d to avoid confusion

Try the I-250...same configuration as the Fireball...and wasn't there a mod Do-335 that used a piston and a jet engine?

I have tried to contact Lone Wolf about this but he hasn't been online in a long time so I decided to publish this on my own here:

I have reworked and updated the Fireball with a few new features:
(only tested in BAT WAW)

https://www.mediafire.com/file/87u7lsbdjepy5yc/%2521%2521_Fireball_191201.zip/file

F7F cockpit used
-you need to have the F7F installed

New and realistic FM:
-one Wright Cyclone Radial and one GE jet engine in the correct centerline positions.
-no more fire danger
-can be operated on their own, I suggest you set the jet and only handle the radial in a combat situation
-speed envelope close to real life figures, also for single-engine operation

Replaced 20mm armament with 4x .50cal.
Added drop tanks to loadout.
US-marked and darker blue default skin

The tricycle landing gear is very different from a tail sitter when landing on a carrier.
Approach in a flat angle with full flaps at ~190kph (depends on fuel load) and immediately after touch down press stick full forward into the nose gear to avoid being pulled back onto your tail (and crash). It is (and also was in real life) counter intuitive to the previous tail sitters.

Your new Fireball runs flawlessly in my 4.10 & DBW. (The Fireball reminds me of DEEP PURPLE  ;)  )

Thank you very much.
