Hello again guys, just a few more images for you.
The exterior of the Thorneycroft itself is essentially complete now the various mudguard brackets have
been mapped and painted to match:
Some actually have a rack on top of the cab and that will be done eventually, also I intend to make a
simplified replica of the engine.
Moving into the cab now with mapping started on the seats:
Decided to change the colour to better reflect those in the preserved example in Belfast:
There are still many preserved examples roadworthy here in the U.K., many of them have over the
years been kept in beautiful condition by private collectors as well as by traveling fair ground drivers
who seem to love these graceful old vehicles:
One type seen in almost all traveling fairgrounds as well is the Foden in its many guises, I was lucky
to see the very last of those come of the production line at Leyland some years ago, so sad when
you see the end of production and see them end their days in a museum.
We I think almost always associate the Thorneycroft with the recovery set and its Coles crane,
however, a quick search through the internet shows it had other uses as well:
Once I finish mapping and painting the cab I might post a link to the vehicle so far although it is
without lods and will only be a static model for now you can then actually take a look at it in the
flesh so to speak and pass comment on the work so far, could be a few days yet though.
Take care.
Wishing you all the very best, Pete.
