I am running that conf.ini. While the game looks good and the frame rate is great, I still get a very uncomfortable feeling when turning my head. It's like everything is out of focus. It also feels cross-eyed. Could it be my nvidia settings? I also tried in y-pack and it was the same.

Would I have better luck with virtual desktop?
Virtual desktop I tested before VorpX. I was not able to run II2 in a window mode as it has been suggested in a video manual so I used it only in something like a cinema mode. But I am not an expert with this software.
Concerning 1946 and VorpX: after some tests in this week I found out that the head tracking is much more smoother when I combine VorpX tracking with Opentrack. I will publish a set of all settings / configurations.
another hint for testing: be aware that there are 2 gun sight modes in 1946: 1 mode sitting straight in the center of your seat/cockpit with increased movement possible and another mode with your head closer, centered behind the gun sight. In this mode movement is a bit restricted.
If you feel uncomfortable when looking forward you should dim your gun sight and you can try to move your head a bit closer to the sight.
Concerning game version for testing I would use at first 4.12.2m and when you have working VorpX settings I suggest to install a mod like BAT, because for example dome cockpits (e.g. FW190) are much more detailed and better for VR.
-use planes without additional gunners for testing, be ause each time a gunner fires there is a flickering on the screen.

After fighting my way through Vorpx set up on my Oculus Quest 2, and working my way through all the other apps related - I can now say I've succeeded with IL-2 BAT without any issues. The only gripes I have are struggling to get sound on Quest, looking at the map which is tucked out of my line of sight and the helpful red speed indicator at bottom left. Apart from that, all is good.

Many thanks UberDemon for highlighting what can be done with VR. The detail of the cockpits is truly amazing.

Ya i know what you mean, its a Jidder when moving around and i also tryed whole day diffrent types of settings but didnt had any luck, so i ill just stick mostly to 2D Mode but with Vorpx.

I manage to minimize it but even then its very weird. In the main menu and editor for example it stops jiddering with the right settings but when you zoom into the editor til you see 3D map it starts jiddering even at max FPS. I cant really explain why.

Hello,

Sorry to resurrect this thread but I am also trying to get Il2 and vorpix to run.

Has anyone managed to find a solution to the jittery/laggy head movement while in VR? This is my only problem right now. My FPS is good and if I keep my head still and move the plane, and look outside to see the terrain, the movement is fluid and smooth. So it's not a problem with frames.

However when I move my head, the movement is very laggy/jerky/jittery and I can't figure out why. This only happens when I move my head.

Hi, I don't understand if vorpx does a real VR experience or a sort of VR-theatre mode. Thanks

I am glad I have a rift S that does not require me to have an evil social media account.  I really dig it and in many cases its said to be better then the Facebook version that came afterward.

Getting myself a Reverb for the holidays, mainly for use with the newer sims, but interested in trying it with BAT as well.  I probably will get Vorpx just to try it out with all my old FPS/RPGs.  On the face of it, 1946 should be perfect for this.  Not too hard on the GPU, not too many controls, plenty of stuff to ogle in 3d.  Interested in any further tips people have.

Also, rather than Vorpx, has anyone experimented further with using Reshade to split the screen and Virtual Desktop to cast it to the goggles, like this guy does, but still using TrackIR for directional control?  In some ways it seems like this would be the most trouble-free way.

I really wish someone could make a vr mod. I'd love to come back to play il-2 1946 from time to time. My experience with VORPX has been poor.

Hi. In the past I analyzed it quite in detail when I developed the Stereo 3D of the VisualMOD.

Essentially it isn't difficult to generate the two subframes required for it like this:

OpenGL which is the rendering engine of the Il-2 can work with thansformation matrixes. Apart of working with anaglyph stereo images I worked on creating half height or half width which subframes that can be used in any 3D TV (those of the googles). The same thing could be used to natively generate the two parallel images of a VR set.

The problem is that scalating the frame rendering is possible but changing the origin from (0,0) to (width / 2, 0) for the second frame, because of how it is implemented the rendering pipeline in Il-2 game is not directly achievable.

In some way I think it would be possible (there could be several approaches on how to solve it) but it requires investigation, test and patience.

Regards, Pablo.
