I tried that method, with the reshade plugin, ended up just getting a headache
It wasn't true 3D, you really couldn't feel the depth (I think the plugin might not have been getting the depth values from the game)
And the trackir solutions needed a lot of adjustment to work accurately with your head (Using opentrack to convert the VR headset movement to the game)
Another big issue was you have to project the screen in VR, you can curve it and make it big enough to fill your field of view, but it had a slight delay from your head movements, even with the settings set to remove the delay.
The reshade method is way too complicated to set up, maybe, just maybe you can get it working but its still gonna be way inferior to true VR
