Just an Eyelash - 1941 FEAF Philippines Campaign
« on: February 02, 2020, 07:04:31 AM »

This is another one of DixieCapt's amazing campaigns, converted to BAT compatibility

This gem was created in 2008:

FEAF stands for Far East Air Force

I've been working on this since before the official release of the Philippines Map. I am about 3/4 through with this campaign as is.

I waited to announce it for several reasons, One is I hate making people wait for months on end for a product to be finished, and secondly I suffered a computer crash a few weeks ago that made this all seem impossible.

Thanks to some friends, a few Thumb Drives, and a Computer Geek the campaign production is back in business, and entering advanced stages.

I do not have any Screens on me, nor do I have a release date (probably a month), however I do have some info on the campaign so you know what’s on its way.

Campaign Information

- The Campaign briefings have been inspired by "The Cactus Diary" and are in Memoir/Diary format.
- The Campaign is about a B-17 Pilot of the 19th Bomb Group.
- The Campaign is set in an Alternative History, or "History What IF" setting, although does not stray from major historical events, or historical believability.
- In the Campaign you will mainly fly a B-17E, however you will also get to fly a P40B, P40E, Fi-156 (as an L-5), and a A5M (as a P-26).
- The Campaign will run from September 5th 1941 till March 13th 1942.
- In this Campaign you will fly in and/or out of the following airstrips.
> Hamilton Field, San Francisco
> Hickham Field, Hawaii
> Midway Island
> Wake Island
> Jackson Airdrome, Port Moresby
> RAAF Airdrome, Darwin
> Clark Field, Luzon Island, Philippines
> McGuire Airdrome, Mindoro Island, Philippines
> Aborian Airstrip, Palawan Island, Philippines
> Kindley Field, Corregidor Island, Philippines
> Del Monte Airfield, Mindanao Island, Philippines

- At then end of this Campaign you will be the B-17 Pilot that picks up MacArthur and ferries him to Australia.

I have adapted maps, planes, ground traffic, loadouts...

You will be flying B-17, L-5, P-40 and P-26, 27 missions in total.

ENJOY! - that's an order 8)

Thanks for the campaign - I'm looking forward to this. I've never flown a B-17 except as a novelty and find I had to learn how to use the Norden bombsight before I even started this campaign.

What I need to know is: Do I start at the lowest rank or something higher?

Highest is the safe bet.
I started with Captain, if I remember correctly. I do think with this one it's not so much of a problem what you do. Dixie seemed to have no advice.

Thank you for the reply. In this campaign I noticed the narrator starts as 2nd Lt. so I started the campaign at the lowest rank as I like to work my way up. If I run into a problem I can always start again.

I also see that BAT 3.8.2 (the version I'm using for this) has the new MissionPro that will allow me to fix a problem with wrong rank. So, all in all things will work out.

Thanks again for bringing this campaign to us.

Indeed, we have improved the "rescue" capabilities of campaign mode, should you run into a problem!  :)
