MiG-Allee! Ta-183 vs. MiG-9
« on: February 05, 2020, 11:07:39 AM »

MiG Allee - 1946 Luftwaffe campaign for Ta-183
11 mission campaign for B.A.T. 3.8 WAW module

"Mig Alley" - with a twist.

A few words on this alternative history:
Pearl Harbor never happened and the USA never entered the war. Instead, Japan invaded Vladivostok in 1941 and opened a second front for the Soviets.

Germany and the Axis then succeeded in the battle of Moscow 1941/42. Stalin and several high ranking Soviets vanished when the city was evacuated, never to be seen or heard of again.
In the following 2 years, the Germans established an occupied zone from Archangelsk, to Moscow, along the Wolga to Stalingrad and down to the Caucasus. In 1944 “final victory” was declared and the new frontier established in a one sided pseudo-peace, which really was a constant state of small skirmishes. The “Novo Soviets” are isolated and on their own... but MiG is putting out new machines with jet engines!

Meet them in the Mig-Allee...

-start with highest rank
-set no instant success to off

Cool.
In the stock game, MiG-9 was a very strong opponent for Ta 183. Faster at all altitudes, better climb and turn (unless at low speeds) just a bit worse in roll rate. Probably slower to accelerate? Do not remember...
I tried both in online skirmishes but prefered the Ta, despite it's "non-historical" construction. Or...because of it?  8)
There was one trick: if you have MiG-9 on your six, try a series of sharp turns at max speed. If you do it right and your opponent tries to mimic your manoeuvre... most probably he'll snap his wing. I wonder if AI MiGs can be fooled like that.
Can't wait to try it in BAT. Thanks for the new campaign.
