NavLight - LandingLight - rain sounds
« on: February 17, 2020, 01:48:00 PM »

For Rebels 4.09 !
This Mod is for Rebels 409 only... ONLY!

Here is a Mod very difficult to broadcast!
Why is that?
Because it modifies 3 generic classes of the game.
One of them are already modified by other Mods :
-      com.maddox.il2.objects.air.Aircraft.class (also used in the mod "Effects_BellyLanding")
-      com.maddox.il2.fm.AircraftState.class
-      com.maddox.il2.engine.EffClouds.class
But it should go well... normally!  8)

So to test this Mod you'll have to make sure that it loads before the other Mod mentioned above!

If it suits you, you can "mix it" with the other Mod...

But what does this new Mod do?

It regroups some modifications on some Classes which were diffused by WxTech!
Detailed explanations are given in the post!
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,62759.0.html

Descriptions :
- Changing the colour of the ground landing light illumination and the limit of its visibility.
- Correction also of a very old error.  The "bailProbabilityOnCut()" method misspelled "Arone" to "Aroone"!!
- Changing the colour and intensity of the lighting of the exterior of the aircraft and the cockpit from the navigation lights and the landing light.
- Changing the intensity and range of the NavLights.
- Changing the intensity and range of the LandingLights.
- Noise of rain up to 2500m

... very useful addition ...!  ;)

Now at last, after so many years, landing lights don't turn the aircraft into a flying X'Mas tree, simply because the wings and fuselage are no more lit by the landing lights ...!  8)

Gabriel,
I'm happy to see that you undertook to utilize some of the little tidbits I've been poking at. As you note, making changes to such base classes can be tricky when other mods have been made to them. Some folk will be using those other mods and other folk will not. If your product does not incorporate the changes made for some other mod, a user of the other mod will lose that capability to benefit from it if he chooses yours.

That's why I've been reticent to release my own mods. Supplying the 'recipe' at least permits the ready possibility of another mod author to incorporate my idea into his work.

I'm starting to feel that a coordinated effort at establishing a database, or repository, of all mods to at least the base classes could be worthwhile. Sorted by game version. With Java source, so that comments made can be accessed. In this way it would be much easier to mix 'n match mods, or create one that synthesizes all.

The modding community is by nature a disparate collection of individuals having their own preferences. Not everyone likes the same things, and electing to eschew some particular mod not infrequently results in being unable to enjoy some other mod which is dependent on that disliked one. ;) But at least having a ready way to see in overview, and up to date, what mods have been done to which classes would be a helpful aid to all.

Yeah, dreaming, right? ;)

Anyway, thanks again for running with some of my ideas. And thanks for the attribution, which in no way is a requirement.

I checked the compatibility between your modifications and the Mod Effects_Belly_Landing which contains the modified Aircraft Class.
In fact, the only version of this Class that is important is the one of your modifications.  ;)
