which mods do you add to BAT?
« on: March 17, 2020, 05:19:45 AM »

I was thinking that a thread on which mods we use in BAT may be both interesting and informative – so here it is!

To start things off, these are the mods that I use:

1. Aircraft

Chipmunk
Gloster Guardian in TGA (only available in WAW in BAT, which seems a bit incongruous).

2. Ships

IJN Fuso/Mogami
IJN Kongo/Haruna
USS Brooklyn
USS Ranger (both WAW and TGA)
HMS Eagle TGA

HMS Furious Swordfish deck position fix (switchable)

3. Visual mods

Destructible Submerged Subs
Less CVE smoke (WAW and JTW – finally no coal-burning carriers!). Switchable as I understand this also affects trains
New cloud textures

4. Various

Parachute Containers
Reindeer (ahh - cute)
NAVAID (WAW and JTW)
Modded ships.ini to make all merchants the same default speed (makes compiling convoys much easier).

First flight in December 1936 and tested in 1937 for a potential introduction in 1938, when Hurricane and even Spitfires were already introduced. So it looks like more of WAW prototype, it is a too late for TGA. I don't think this is unreasonable, but TGA and WAW is always a discussion. This plane was overtaken by a sprint of very rapid development.

Agreed, vampire, certainly not unreasonable. It's just a personal thing that I like all the experimental stuff in one place if they were not used in combat.

I keep one "clean" and one modded BAT install.

I add NG-CAM 1.6, NG-HUD 3.2 and NG-MAP 3.0 to both the clean and modded ones, since they're pretty much certified to not break BAT.

My added aircraft change with every BAT version as some are absorbed into BAT, but currently they are:

DOF:
Pfalz D.III and D.IIIa

TGA:
Waco UPF-7
Armstrong-Whitworth Siskin
Messerschmitt Bf 108 Taifun

WAW:
Vultee BT-13
Douglas B-18 Bolo
Fairey Firefly I (the non-Franken one)
Hawker Sea Fury (the non-Franken one)
Lockheed PV-1 (the non-Franken one)
Messerschmitt Bf 108 Taifun
Dornier Do 24T

JTW:
DHC-1 Chipmunk
Waco UPF-7
Fairey Firefly I (the non-Franken one)
Hawker Sea Fury (the non-Franken one)
North American FJ-1 Fury
DHC-6 Twin Otter
Dornier Do 24T
North American T-28C (sister to the T-28D Nomad that BAT absorbed with 3.8 ).

I'm looking for some pre-WWII carriers to add, so will be watching this thread for ideas.  HMS Eagle sounds like a good one already.
