How do I setup Triple Montitors?
« on: March 17, 2020, 06:13:08 PM »

I've recently updated my rig with an I-9 9900k and NVidea GTX-2070 Super.  I've also added 3 27" 1440p monitors.  I'd like to get IL-2 1946 running on my new triple monitor setup but can't seem to figure out how.  I've searched and can't find any recent reference, I've tried what I could find to no avail.  I've gotten IL-2 1946 up and running with VP on a single monitor with 1440p, but can't figure out how to get it onto all 3.  When I modify the conf.ini to from 2560x1440 to 7680x1440 it starts to launch (I get the small splash screen from the SAS launcher) but then fails to actually start to load.

I'm also planning to run an install with BAT, as that looks like some fun.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.  If this should be posted somewhere else, Please let me know.  Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide.

Yep, saw that video before.  I tried that.  IL-2 1946 fails to launch.  Modded or unmodded, doesn't matter.  It still fails to load.  Any other ideas?

Could it be that running at 7680 x 1440 is asking the game to manage to much Vram?

Tried it at 3640 x 720.  Still no joy.  Not sure what it is.

Ok, I got it to launch with NVidia Surround enabled, but the resolution is still in a 4x3 ratio and doesn't expand to all 3 screens. Hmmm. . . .

Yeah, I tried tweaking some settings and it still launches, but it will only launch in a 4x3 aspect ratio and has the side "letter boxing".  Ideas anyone?

Obviously, point 4 has to be adjusted to your specs/resolution or whatnot, but I think the rest is pretty self explanatory.  :-|

Thank you for the idea and suggestion.  I tried it as you suggested, no Joy.  Still getting the same 4x3 aspect ratio in game.  :(

Any other ideas?

Give conf.ini values for resolution and that whole section./group or values.

PS quoting pics on SAS is a no go.

Try dicking around with SaveAspect and EnableResize (enabling/disabling).

I had gotten it working with two monitors but this was a hell of a long time ago so I can't be sure... But I think it's to do with the Aspect Ratio or Resizing if I'm not mistaken...

Thanks for all your help.  I finally got it working.  For the record and for anyone else who has this issue this is the final top section of my conf.ini:
Code: [Select]
[il2]
title=Il2-Sturmovik Forgotten Battles
hotkeys=HotKey game

[window]
width=7680
height=1440
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=1
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=0
Use3Renders=0
WideScreenFoV=1
UIColor=0
UIDetail=0
UIBackground=en

The key seemed to be setting the "SaveAspect=0".  The "Use 3Renders" setting didn't appear to impact it either way.  I tried with that set both on and off and it didn't change anything.

Nice, I had a feeling it'd be aspect ratio since having that 1 wouldn't stretch it so far wide or something, glad you got it fixed.
