Attack on Malaga 1937 - For TGA!
« on: March 27, 2020, 01:24:33 AM »

Slowly, step by step, I am moving my campaigns over to BAT. Now another one with a topic from the Spanish Civil War:

This is a semi-historical, 10-mission  static campaign, set in the Spanish Civil War during the two first months of 1937. You are a pilot in a Spanish squadron, flying the Heinkel He-51C fighter. (In one mission you will fly the E-30, which used by both sides in this conflict.) After the failure of the Nationalists to capture Madrid and the Republican counterattack at the Battle of the Corunna Road, the Nationalists are seeking to regain the initiative. A 40 kilometer wide strip of land in southern Spain along the Mediterranean Sea, centering on the city of Malaga, is held by the Republicans. This is to be the Nationalists new target...

You can download it here: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=707

If you seriously interested in the Spanish Civil War in the air should try and get hold of Jesus Salas Larrazabals "Air War over Spain". It has a distinct Nationalist bias (written as it was during the Franco era), but contains a wealth of information. A much more balanced but old and much briefer account (it's an Osprey title) is "Spanish Civil War Air Forces" by noted air historian Christopher Shores. A recent, excellent addition (with much new material) to the literature of the war in the air is Rafael A Permuy López “Air War over Spain”.

Whistler has helped me finding a number of crucial bugs - thanks! Note that this is a, shall we say, 100%/75% coversion to BAT, i.e. it is fully functional in every way, uses new aircraft, units, ships, functions etc, but there is no taxi-to-takeoff. I will do that later. Right now I just want to make this campaign available to the BAT community! More will follow.

Thanks for looking  :)

I would also recommend the following books
Condor The Luftwaffe in Spain by Patrick Laureau. Stackpole books.
Fiat CR32 Aces of the Spanish Civil War by Alfredo Logoluso. Osprey
Spanish Republican Aces by Rafael A Permuy Lopez. Osprey
Aces of the Legion Condor by Robert Forsyth. Osprey
Aircraft of the Spanish Civil War. Putnam.

Excellent work Poltava. Well done on your continued updates. Am currently enjoying your YOT which seems to set the standard for Il2 1946 campaigns.
