Setting a group of aircraft as objective FMB
« on: April 01, 2020, 05:51:00 PM »

Hey all;  Well I have finished Convoy Bread but have a question.  I have searched and googled and found part of the answer but I cannot figure out the rest.  I have 24xDo17, how do I set the entire group as an objective; so for instance if I want the 109 player to have to protect and ensure that no more then 25% of the total number of bombers get shot down for a secondary, or if I want the UK player to have to shoot down at least 25% for a secondary, how do I do this?

The Do17s are in 6 groups of 4, right now I have each group of 109s attached to a group of Do17s and an objective for each group of 0% and 25%, but it would be nice if I could draw a circle around the bombers like ground target stationary and set it that way.

Hope this is clear.  If this has been answered before I apologize, I have searched and read M4T, SAS, Ubi and UT but didn't come up with anything.

(as in the real battle there are 100 planes total:  24xD017, 24x110, 24x109, 12x Spitfire, 18xHurricane)

I have this:  https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,24051.msg246839.html#msg246839  and in particular this:  To finish the mission we just need to add our Target Objectives.  I deleted the previous objectives that were attached to the bombers, and substituted primary target objectives attached to each of the enemy bomber flights and escort elements (four in total - all four will need to be acheived to complete the mission).  We only need to attach a target objective to one waypoint from each target, anywhere on the target's flightplan.  I've set a timeout of 30 mins and 50% destruction for the fighters, and 75% destruction for the bombers.  If the good guys can shoot down two bombers and one fighter from each flight within 30 minutes, we'll win the mission.  but I am not sure what exactly this means. From my understanding, I have to do it the way I have, each group of Do17s (6) get a target marker.

Firstly, this is not a BAT tech help item because you are asking about base game functions, that's why I moved it to Lounge.

As far as I understand your question, that is because this is not possible at all in IL-2.

You reference flights on a flight by flight basis (protect or attack). It is not possible to connect other entities, the game AI only operates on a flight basis.
You need to solve this with creativity as a mission builder. You have several flights of a bomber formation and several flights of escorts. attach each escort flight to a different bomber flight for example.

You also can't make all escort fighters behave as one entity, each flight always behaves independently. That is how Il-2 AI works and always was.

Thanks for the reply.  That is what I was thinking, I cannot say "shoot down 25% of the total number of bombers", only 25% of each flight of 4, so some flights may lose 25% and the player score victory points, and others may not.  Too bad; will have to think on this and try to come up with a work around maybe.
