joystick
« on: April 10, 2020, 10:48:07 AM »

Hi all,

Mike,
Thank you for introducing me to this; finally shout down some thing.

Does anyone know how to reduce the joystick sensitivity?

I'm using a T.1600, latest edition with the reduced spring tension.

Thanks.

Hi Jack,

go to settings > controls > plane controls, select the action your joystick axis is assigned to and click the symbol to the very right of that line:

This will open the following page where you can adjust sensitivity and a few other things for that axis:

OK, that worked. But for the life of me, I cannot get the elevator trim mapped to my joystick buttons. I mapped the padlock with no problem.

Any ideas???

It is important to know that the game differentiates between two trim systems, according to what the real AC had: Either it is trimmed via an axis (for example a hand wheel like on the LaGG-3) or via a button system (like the Fw-190). So in order for your buttons to work for every aircraft, you must assign them to both systems: I've highlighted them for you here in red (axis system) and in blue (switch trim system):

If you for example assign your keys only to the axis trim system and test on a plane that doesn't feature this trim system (i.e. Fw-190), then your trim buttons do not work for the aircraft because it doesn't feature a wheel trim but a button trim system, or vice versa. I think that just this happenend here.

When you look at my screenshot above you will notice that the joystick buttons "joy0_poy0_0" and "joy0_poy0_180" are both assigned twice because of that very reason: To ensure that they work both for planes which get trimmed via buttons in reality and those trimmed with an axis in reality.

Hope that helps :)

Thank you again, makes sense now that you explain the logic.

I am having to reinstall because I screwed with an ini file, when will I learn?

I will use your input as soon as I can get back on.

One last question: on 'normal' difficulty, can I get rid of the red boxes around the target, I guess they are aiming aids or equivalent to the 'no hud icons' in IL2.

Thx again.

You have to use custom settings. Then you can choose whatever aid you want. Normal is set and cannot be changed

Press 'h" to hide all overlays, including speedbar, minimap, techchat, and icons.
Press 'i" to re-enable icons. You can either have icons without the HUD, or you can have the HUD without the icons (by pressing "h" and "i" in sequence).
In the stock game you cannot get rid of the red boxes while having icons. It's only possible by using mods.

It is a better idea to use custom settings. In there he can choose everything and stil have aid with teckchat. Normal is a set easymode , custom is yiur own prefered mode and expert is a set no help at all mode
