Regia Marina - WIP Projects
« on: May 04, 2020, 04:09:38 AM »

My first Regia Marina project was the battleships Caio Duilio  https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,16437.0.html, -- back in 2011!!

This latest work is based on a WoWS model, converted to IL-2 compatibility. The model has been re-skinned by Stanislao.
The model is of the Spica Class Torpedo Boat, one of the most numerous types commisioned into the Regia Marina.
I am taking as my general inspiration the ship types present at the Battle of Matapan.  --- So maybe more to come later?

BRILLIANT asheshouse! I was just wondering if there were any RM ships in the works somewhere! ]hello2[
The Regia Marina is the only big navy left in Il-2, maybe France also.
I'd love to see the Littorio class battleship and a realistic version of our cruisers Trento & Zara (they are already in-game, but they are a quite good re-skin of the Kirov cruiser)
Maybe even the famous Montecuccoli light cruiser... :)

Looking forward for these 8)

I've been thinking about the Duca Degli Abruzzi Light Cruiser from the 8th Cruiser Division at the Battle of Matapan.
Similar to the Montecuccoli, both being of the Condottieri Class.

Dear Asheshouse, ask me ask me please... don't move!
I'm joking  ;) Great joyce for Spica...

If you one day will want to close the ring around Bismark/Prinz Eugen first and last cruise we have to quote necessarily HMS Hood!
In patrulla azul forum some guy started in WIP long time ago...
Also heavy cruisers as County class ( Suffolk, Norfolk, Dorsetshire) played an important role in that history page.

We known that this simulator is a plane simulator, not a ship simulator... but because his historic accuracy is becoming every day a reality I have to give some suggestions because you asked for requests for the Mediterranean theater.

Condottieri  italian classes payed an important role in WWII and your project about Duca degli Abruzzi is very appreciated.
There are also sub classes of Condottieri:
Colleoni, Cadorna, Montecuccoli, Eugenio di Savoia for example.

About Battle of Matapan the Oriani class of italian destroyers are missing (Alfieri i.e.)

Returning to RN are missing some light cruisers classes:

Leander class (Sidney, Ajax, Neptune i.e.)
Town class (Liverpool, Gloucester, Sheffield i.e.)
C Class ( Calypso, Calliope, Carlisle i.e.)
AAA Dido Class ( Cleopatra, Bonaventure, Naiad i.e.)

There is a very large material on web, but if you need some extra info please PM.

Some guy talk about French navy in WWII... well is another important chapter... Battle cruisers as Lorraine, Richelieu.
Heavy cruisers as Strasbourg, Algerie, Foch...

Meanwhile a big thank for you dedication and efforts.
Take care!

Rather than the Oriani Class, if I was to do a second destroyer type, then it would likely be the Navigatori Class of which 12 were built, and their twin funnel form makes them distinctly different in appearance. I started the Leone Pancaldo some time ago but never completed it.

Wonderful Asheshouse!!!
I'm agree with Griffon... we already have a Navigatori class.
Maybe less accurate than the model proposed by Asheshouse...
We accept all the things from the Master... !!!

Yeah i mentioned the french navy but in my opinion it isn't as important as the RM in terms of battle fought (no offense)
Yeah asheshouse the Condottieri class would be perfect! I mentioned the Montecuccoli bacause it rescued the poor sailors of the Roma battleship after the attack that sunk her. ::(
Littorio class battleships would be my next suggestion if you need one  ;)
