:)   ;D   Hurray! Eritrea, born as a light cruiser and later relegated to the role of support ship for the Italian-German shipping, had an epic story! In service in the Red Sea fleet at the fall of the territories of East Africa he was the protagonist of a roccambolesco transfer to Japan where he remained in service as a support ship until the surrender of Italy in 1943, the commander surrendered himself to Ceylon and took action to co-belligerence with allied forces until the end of the war. Subsequently she ceded to France she was active until the end of the 50s in Indochina and French Polynesia ... a truly amazing service !  !

Pilotable?
I was thinking along the same lines but did not dare ask...
Would that open up possibilities for a new PT boat type "sim in the sim"?
I guess Warthunder also has PT, MTG/MTB and S-Boats as well as Russian torpedo boats to offer...?

Yes, this 3D could be linked to a flight model. Perhaps a flying boat FM with weight parameter set such that it cannot take off. It would still roll and pitch on the sea surface to create the impression of being on a ship. If we also had a suitable cockpit to stand in for a bridge, we're away. Even turrets could be manned. (Actually, this is so obvious, I can't believe it hasn't already been done?) :P

At the start of conflict there were also 5 MAS boats stationed at Massawa, though they seem to have achieved little.
This is the MAS500 Series 3 from War Thunder

Also present were the four Sauro Class Destroyers of the 3rd Division and 8 submarines, four of which were transferred to Bordeaux.

I have something for this thread but I need some help, Ashe, as I have never yet modded anything but planes.

Italian Submarines 600t (with a bonus  ;) )

Italian submarines 800t

Italian Submarines 1000t

Italian submarines 1200t (also with a bonus  ;)  :D)

You will find ships/subs much easier than aircraft.
A 1200t and 800t would fit well in the Red Sea Flotilla.
Basic 3D modelling rules are similar to aircraft.
1 unit = 1 metre
Max 3000 poly per msh.
Depending on poly count divide the hull into 1, 2 or 3 parts named Hull1.msh etc.
Other static parts divide up and name as you wish.
Guns must be named Head1, Gun1, Head2, Gun2 etc in sequential numbers - to suit the java code.
I use Maraz exclusively for exporting.
Effects hooks are much more limited than aircraft. Can be added later.

Were do you define the Guns and torpedo tubes' orientation and movements in java? (which java class?) The submarine classes I've seen look rather empty.

The 600t (series I to V also called classes Argonauta (1929), Sirene (1931), Adua (1935), Perla (1936), Platino (1940)) and 800t (Serie I Tritone (1941) the best of all Italian submarines, the production of a second serie was stopped by the armistice of September 1943) were the mainstay of the Italian sub fleet in the Mediterranea.
They, among others made the raids with the SLC Human Torpedoes on Alexandria, Gibraltar, Malta and Haifa Harbours.

The 1000t (I made till now only the Marcello Classe, the most numerous in this category)  and 1200t (the main "oceanic submarines" Classes Marconi (1938) and Liuzzi (1038)) was the mainstay of the Italian sub fleet in the Atlantic.
The De Vinci with its midget sub CA1 was intended for raiding New York's harbour in Dec 1943 but the events of September 1943 changed this planning.

Active in the Red sea were 2 600t subs (1 of serie III the Macalle and 1 of serie IV the Perla) and 6 of 1000t : the 2 submarines of the Archimede classe (Torricelli and Ferraris, the 2 others, Archimede I and Torricelli Im  having been transferred to the Spanish nationalists) and 4 from the 5 of the Brin  class (Archimede II, Torricelli II, Galvani, Gugliemotti) - I'll add these subs to the 1000t class.

Where do you define the Guns and torpedo tubes' orientation and movements in java? (which java class?) The submarine classes I've seen look rather empty.
Pivot point location and orientation is set in the model. The gun type and other limits are defined in the ships.ini file.

The ships classes generally do not do much other than define the ship name, but they can be used to add other features if you are good with java. Example is the addition of flight deck lights in the Hiryu model and others.

Sounds nice.

Pivot point orientation for Head, Gun and Shellstart shown in this image.

If you need models of specific gun types to add to the sub models then I may be able to assist.
