How do you get 3 different water colours?

Hi Mandrill

Basically just as everybody, by adjusting the level of gray on the map_c
Usually in a range from 112 to 120, even more, depending on the underlying texture.
Plus something more.
I remove the shadenoise from the map.
Here is some rgb 120 water
Then, you can control the water color in relation to the underlying texture

Oh that's an old one. I thought he had somehow figured out how to have blue, grey and brown water on the same map without using the rgb table and the colour of the underlying texture.

What's this shade noise thing and how do you alter or remove it?

Thank you Bombsaway, for the encouragements.
Much remains to be done.
In particular understanding why this:

gives that:

That's the key. It makes all the difference.

Create a small targa image, 64x64 is enough, fully transparent and name it as you want. NoNoise.tga for example.
Make a copy and name it NoNoiseTL.tga (just ad 'TL' to the name you chose)
Put the two in the same folder where your textures are (_Tex/<your own folder>)
In the load.ini, [APPENDIX] section you will find a line:

 ShadeNoise = land/Noise.tga

Or something like that. Replace with the following

 ShadeNoise = <your own folder>/NoNoise.tga

Thanks. Something else to play with.

Draw a black line. I usually make it 2 pixels wide for a narrow river or a canal.

Blur it. You now have a fat, fuzzy, blurry grey line.

Draw the 2 pixel black line again in the middle of the fat, blurry grey line. You can also do a line of black dots that connect up. At your option you can blur it slightly into the grey line or not.

You now have a solid river / canal when you open it in the FMB.
