Update 4.006 inbound
« on: May 18, 2020, 11:06:56 PM »

Straight from the boss:

Quote
Attention Pilots!

Update 4.006 will probably be released on Tuesday May 19th (tomorrow) if all goes well. If not, we'll try again on Wednesday. So back up anything you want backed up before you attempt the update. This will be a big one, maybe backup your entire IL-2 install folder just in case. Update servers will likely be jammed for a while so please have a bit of patience with us. This update is JAM PACKED with good stuff. We think you'll like it a lot.

Also, I will leave the Yak-9 and Yak-9T Pre-Order discount live for a few more days, but hurry it will end soon! These Yaks are worth every penny. A lot of fun!

Buy Here!

Some great skins for the Yak-9 are included.

Finally a Soviet fighter with good performance and a 37mm punch!

Sizzler!

Bought a new wand just for that purpose. It's plugged in and copying now.  8)

As if the backup would help anyway.
As soon as the new version is available, you cannot start the old one anymore.
What's the point?

The backup copy should work offline, shouldn't it?
Besides, I think the formulation was sloppy and Jason meant mods and personal settings, which might be genuinely fucked up by any major update.
I guess we ordinary users will get away with it, the real question is how it will affect the life of mission designers and server administrators (and their clientele).

I am new to this version of Il-2. I'd assumed, in my ignorance, that as per the stock and BAT versions, backing up the GB installation would be worthwhile. I stand connected - and with a fresh flash drive in the stash.  8)

EDIT: The update and the Yak-9 have downloaded and installed. So far so good, and my thanks to everyone involved.  ;D

Speaking of update, I got a micro-updoot (micro update) before there was any changelog/announcement made of it on Steam or the forum (already got the 4.006 updoot), and it's about 205 MB large, wonder what it could be.
