Modact 5.3 - game won't open
« on: May 20, 2020, 05:16:22 PM »

Hi everyone

I'm new here, and was looking to start modding IL-2 1946.
I got a fresh install, patched from 4.07m up to 4.12.2m, then installed Modact 5.3.

The IL-2 selector works fine, however when trying to run the game from either the shortcut or exe, a splash screen appears with a picture of an aircraft on a carrier - for about one second, then goes back to desktop.
Also, when I try to run the game from the IL-2 selector, I get an error message saying that elevation is required.

Despite modifying the conf.ini accordingly, the game won't produce a log for me to show you.

The root folder is not in program files, so that wouldn't appear to be the problem.

I'm fairly competent with computers, and have good experience modding countless other games - but now I'm stumped.

Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Chris

Did you check your game after each up-date ?
By that I mean did you play the game .

I hadn't done this the first couple of times, so I did a reinstall of everything to try this - and both the patch and modact worked
I don't know why, seeing as the only thing I did differently to the first two tries was running the game before I installed modact.

However, when I try to put the game into wide-screen format (1366x768) - it quits to desktop.
When I was playing 4.07m, I manually set the wide-screen resolution in conf.ini and it ran with no problems.

Thanks, Chris
