Yes, not many of my old campaigns remain unconverted to BAT  Yet another of my personal favourites have now taken the leap:



This is a semi-historical, static 27-mission campaign, set during the German attempt to capture Moscow in the fall of 1941. You are a German fighter pilot flying the Messerschmitt Bf109F-4, in a Jagdstaffel that fights on the northern flank of the German offensive, the one that eventually came closest to the Soviet capital. The campaign starts in early October, with the first phase of "Operation Taifun" shattering the Russian defenses, and ending in mid-december, in snow and extreme cold, with the powerful Soviet counter-strike.

Operation Taifun was planned as two large-scale pincer movements, one to the north of Moscow against the Kalinin Front by the 3rd and 4th Panzer Armies, simultaneously severing the Moscow–Leningrad railway, and another to the south of Moscow against the Western Front, south of Tula by Guderians 2nd Panzer Army, while the 4th Army advanced directly towards Moscow from the west.

Initially, the Soviet forces conducted a strategic defence by constructing three defensive belts, and deploying newly raised reserve armies as well as bringing troops from the Siberian and Far Eastern Military Districts. Subsequently, as the German offensives were halted, a Soviet strategic counter-offensive and smaller-scale offensive operations forced the German armies back to the positions around the cities of Oryol, Vyazma and Vitebsk. It was the first major military defeat of Nazi Germany in WW2.

Operation Taifun was arguably the last real chance Hitler had of defeating the Soviet Union, and its failure meant that Germany was caught in an unwinnable war of attrition that they couldn’t win in the long run.

Campaigns would never be the same without all nice skins that can be found out there. And I am always thankful for the skinners, both for their excellent work and the inspiration they give. The guys behind the skins in this campaign are some of my personal favourites: Agracier, Dimitry Samsonov (DS), Hayate, Mangas, Murdoc, VP media, Canon UK, Imme and Winger69.

As this campaign of course couldn't have been built without Okevnas GREAT map it is dedicated to him, and with thanks to all our Russian IL-2 friends!

Hi, I'm just wondering... Is your Years of Triumph megacampaign the compilation of your campaigns, or are they all different? I'm more than halfway through that giant and don't really know if I'd get different missions if I started this one after completing it.

"Years of Triumph" (YOT) essentially contains all my other German fighter campaigns, with some added material to act as a "bridge" here and there. There should be no problem in playing both YOT and Taifun at the same time.

But I should advise you to make a backup of your campaign progress files, now and then, so if there is a glitch you don't have to restart that monster

Hi SAS~Poltava,
Just a quick note
I have installed IL2-ge (the graphics enhancer) but I
had to switch it off to run this campaign on both my laptop and main computer.
It caused the game to shut down just after starting to load IL2-ge

IL2-ge- hs_err_pid_log states:-

        An unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the VM.
        Unexpected Signal : EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION occurred at PC=0x56915dfb
        Function name=glDeleteTextures
        Library=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\opengl32.dll

 plus loads of other things not sure what it means
Anyway its worth testing in case its only my set ups or IL2-ge affects just this campaign.

That is totally unrelated. A mission or campaign does not interlace with the inner workings like that.

Only thing that could look like a connection is that the mission you play is simply too heavy for your system to pull off with the mod. But that's a wild guess.
Please do not discuss "Graphic Enhancer" tech help items in this thread, go to the GE dev thread with that.

Poltava, do you have an idea, why (already in the first mission of this campaign) the game slows down and my FPS break down while i am close to the airfield?
When im flying away, everything is fine and smooth, normally around 100 FPS.
In the area of the airfield im below 20 FPS.

It has probably to do with the capacity of your computer, the graphics card or some such.

With a 6-core 4.5 Ghz Intel, 32 GB Ram and a 1080Ti with 12 MB? Probably not.
But fortunately second mission runs perfectly smooth.
There must be some thing in the first mission.
