Cliffs of Dover's complex flights
« on: June 02, 2020, 12:27:46 PM »

There's one thing I desire absolutely the most and it's Cliffs of Dover's flight system recreated in 1946. You know, with those flights consisting of 9 bombers or 12 fighters in either vics or finger fours, and being able to choose the tactical numbers for their every plane individually. The Daidalos Team gave us some hope of changing the flights' mechanics being possible by introducing the formation system years ago. What do you think, will this ever be a thing in our sim?

No. What you describe (more than 4 planes in a flight) would be near impossible with the IL-2 1946 game engine, and if someone did pull it off, the mod would most likely break every old mission file and require them to be written in a new format.

The only way to get the appearance of more than 4 planes in a flight is to manually insert different flights aligned properly and at the right speed to appear to fly in formation with each other.

On average, the average average averages, averagely, the average average of all averages.

Maybe it could be done without breaking the missions, if the old 4-plane flights could be new 4-plane flights without any alterations.
