Well, it certainly allows the creation of some new and varied scenarios. I'm just about to use Leander's Walrus to search for a German Merchant Raider that has been wreaking havoc off the coast of Queensland:

I don't want to hijack asheshouse's RN thread (so last comment on this subject), but the Auxiliary Cruiser is a perfect match for the new ships - searching visually (no radar that early in the war) with Hermes' Swordfish, for example.
