Don't know if this is possible, but thought I would ask. Aircraft guns were notorious in the First World War for jamming at the most inopportune times. I've been reading a first person account written by a US WW1 ace, and on almost every encounter in his SPAD XIII he experienced jamming on one or both machine guns when he tried to engage a enemy aircraft. Sometimes the gun could be cleared in combat, sometimes not.
Could a random element be implemented to simulate this in the sim? And perhaps a key command to unjam the gun, again randomly having a probability to either clear the jam or fail to do so?
I remember the old sim Red Baron 3D had this built in to it, and it aided in the immersion factor quite a bit. In that sim the longer the gun burst the more likely a jam would occur, and attempts to clear a jam would sometimes render the gun inoperable for the rest of that mission.
Is this doable?
