I couldn't get the game to run widescreen at first.

I think that 4.12 supports widescreen by default, no mod required.

It does but mabye software problem or something else caused that, if anyone experiences the same thing than it's safe to know that 4.10 ecran wide works fine with the un altered modpack.

Hi all, I ran across a problem this weekend while flying in the Il2m Early and Late where the fab 100 bombs minimum altitude drop was set at 300 meters on all three fuse settings.The fab 50s were set to 86 meters not sure if this is historical or i messed up something Thankyou for any response

I was messing with sound files the other day and I noticed that Jiver's sound-pack in the modpack has no Pratt & Whitney R-2800 engine sound. Instead it has an R-2000 sound. I have never met an R-2000 sound before and I have an old copy of Jiver's sounds that I downloaded long ago and that has the R-2800 as you would expect. Is there really supposed to be an R-200 sound or is this a glitch? If it is for real what has happened to the R-2800?

It's probably in SFS_AUTO/sas_sound_01.sfs.

Edit: I've checked the Hellcat FM which comes with the modact, it says

OK I see what is happening here. This sound-pack treats all the P&W 2000 series engines as one sound. That is why there is such a list of planes using it. These sounds used to be divided into R-2600 series, R-2800 series and R-2800 and that's what my old copy of Jiver's sounds does. I think I will arrange things in my own set-up to split the sounds up. Why have one sound when you can have three?

All these FM's are stock. The engine being used is determined by the FM, not the sound pack. SAS Modact 5.30 was reverted to stock sounds because of online compatibility. I dont like it at all, but there was no other way to build a 4.12 modpack.

Now I am really confused. Does this mean that all the R-2000 aircraft all have the same sound? I hadn't noticed. If so what is the point of the sub-models given in the FM files and what is the point of the R-2600, for instance, in Jiver's sound pack when its job is done by the R-2000? Thinking the R-2000 might be an error I changed it to R-2800. That should have knocked out the sound for all the R-200 aircraft but it didn't, so what sound were they using?

I dont know a lot about sound modding to be honest. I could extract the FM's from the buttons files and I can search for character strings inside them. I think Jivers sound mod was made for an earlier, different mod setup, hence some files are probably unused and some may missing. Plus there were several versions posted, I got mine at 1c iirc.

I extracted the sas_sound_01.sfs, these are the included presets (248 prs files, Jiver has 267).
The motor.PrattWhitney_R-2800_Series.prs is included. I dont think that all of these presets being used, the gun sounds of all planes are all based on a handful of presets, I havent found a plane which would use weapon.MGunMGFFs.prs for example.

Sound preference is very subjective, so it can be difficult to find a perfect solution (or choice) for the sounds.
I like the Jiver's soundpack that VP Modpack is including but I still felt interest in trying other sounds, as was the case for me also with HSFX.

If you ever feel interested in trying other sounds with VP Modpack, then I strongly suggest Victor's Sound Mod (aka VSM).
VSM is mainly intended for BAT, but it can be made to work with other IL2 mod packs (after moving files to right places and renaming few things).

After having a go with it for myself, I left a download link (with the blessing of the author, FWIW) for an up-to-date VSM package that is ready to work with VP Modpack.
