I've not looked into that effect mod contents and java class files,
but once I was asked from someone as VP modpack's WEP flames are buggy

In the two years that this mod has been used no one has come forward with complaints that the WEP flames are buggy. I tested this in a clean vpmedia's modpack. They were already written in Tiger33's UV3soundmod classes.  The only change I have made is in my v2.0 where the percentage of throttle is,  before they appear,  transitioning from orange to blue.

If someone has buggy WEP effect then suffice to say it's their doing by adding or changing files/mods to their game or adding my mod to a different modpack.

Now I did find a bug in my startup flame effect in the v2.0 of my mod which I hope has been fixed. Now all engines both player and AI should show the effect.
V2.0 links have been updated to reflect this bugfix.

For your knowledge both WEP and start effects are reliant on hooks written in the planes model files, so if the hooks are not there or their position is not correct then it has nothing to do with my mod

PS: While I still have some interest in doing this it might be nice to be given a chance to fix so called bugs instead of suggesting another bug free mod

Hi Vp I installed your mod along with BAT to give it a try :).

Now I have a couple of questions maybe you can help me with.

1. I downloaded and install the Vp mod pack and the patches uploaded in Page 1. Are there any other patches that I must install or they are all part of the patch pack?

2. In the SAS folder I noticed that folder have these symbols in the beginning: the exclamation marks, some with one only one others have multiples or the dash symbol. What do they mean please?

This is the only patch you need:

The names in the #SAS folder only influence the load order of mods.

Hi, I'm sorry If it's been answered already but it's 159 pages and I couldn't find it. I basically tried to remove what I did not want so I went to the SAS folder and deleted it :/ and the game goes to 60% and CTD.
I would like to remove some things like the retextured objects and some of the new planes etc as I'm running low on hard drive space. I'm mostly looking for replacement maps as the originals look really bad for today's standards, plane skins and better looking skies. I thought about installing sas modact and downloading stuff separately but it's a small nightmare looking for textures for xyz plane or map, let alone install each.
VP is a previous time and patience saver, but how exactly do I remove what I don't want? Thanks in advance.

Did you try doing a disk cleanup in Windows, deleting extra restore points, windows update files, etc? You can gain lot of storage space that way.

The problem is my PC is old and my HDD is pretty small, I don't even have restore points enabled or many programs installed, just essentials. To give you an idea the total amount of stuff installed with win7 included doesn't go over 20gigs, very few things so If I could trim down a few gigs from the modpack it would be great just to be left with a bit more room in the drive.

You can install single mod + single mod + single mod .... only you want, instead of using modpacks.

If you delete something, usually you need to remove its ini file entries from #SAS\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects. But it's a tedious process if you got no experience with modding. Not to mention that 20% of your disk needs to be empty anyway because otherwise Windows can not defragment it properly. Why not just buy an extra 1Tb HDD for ~40 usd?

The names in the #SAS folder only influence the load order of mods.

What does that mean? If I remove the "!!" from their names will I damage the mod pack?

Thanks

!!! or # simply means that I wanted to ensure that a certain mod is being loaded before the others. If you rename folders I can not guarantee that everything will work the same as before. Right now after 2+ years of testing everything seems to work ok, so I'd leave the folder names alone if I were you.

I ended up installing the full mo ppack anyway and I'm left with about 25% disk space but have an external usb to compensate. Anyway I have a glitch that I'm not sure If it's related to the pack itself, but on the carrier take off missions in the US side, I have no engine sound playing, anyone know what it might be?
I also noticed a couple missions are glitched and don't load or one in particular with the bf109 (or is it the FW190? sorry can't remember) the plane crashes into another plane right after the mission loads, weird. I think it was glitched before I modded it too.

EDIT: Seems like the engine sounds are there for some planes, so far I'm able to tell the F4Fe3 and P36 don't make any engine sound, at least on the US carrier take off mission, need to test in other missions.
EDIT2: Corsair, Hellcat, Mohawk don't have sound either possibly several more, P51 and P39 are fine, If there's a fix for this it would be great.
