Installed, up and running.  Even have it running in 3840 x 2160 resolution (natve to my UHD 4K Monitor)

Does the jetwar get extracted the same way?

Oh, am Isupposed to use the IL_2Selector to launch the game?

The key was to uncheck the box that 7-Zip default creates.  Once I did that everything extracted correctly

Thank you very much for taking the time to help me and having patience.

I hope you know that you can also drag and drop file in Windows...do you need a tutorial?

Yes I know how to drag and drop.  I could have copied and pasted the contents of the vp_modpack folder into the game directory, but I wanted to be sure exactly where the files were supposed to be before doing it.  When you said that no folder should be created by 7-Zip that was the answer.

The problem turned out to be that 7-Zip was on its own creating the folder, I didn't check or uncheck any box.

Anyhow It is installed and running now.  Tested it in the QMB and then tested the FMB and created a test mission.  All the values in the config.ini are set so I can run the game at maximum graphics.

Thank you again.

Thanks

I'm glad it's worked out. I really can not make the install process much easier than extracting two zip files, deleting a folder and editing a textfile.

Thanks VP i live off the grid in a little country called the TRNC! Not renowned for its internet speed😀

UPDATE I keep getting this log error when trying to load a QMB Pro Mission on your Poland_1939 Map and the sim hangs at 100%

INTERNAL ERROR: MeshObj: Can't load SIM 3do/Buildings/Slovakia/City_03c/live.sim
Mesh 3do/Buildings/Slovakia/City_03c/live.sim not created

The actual texture referred too is in the right place ie, /maps/3do/Buildings/.....

Any ideas?

Hi Guys,

Just had a quick question about the IL-2 Selector and memory. I have a 12GB RAM system and when I ramp up the ram settings on the selector, it says RAM is feasible. Is it better to give IL-2 the max RAM through the selector or leave it down at 512 where it says Good? I'm also noticing some minor pauses when dialogue is playing during a mission. IE: Whenever there's a radio transmission there's a slight stutter in the FPS. Does my RAM settings have anything to do with this? Many thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers!

Run the 'black death' track with both settings and you'll see if there's a difference in the average fps.
I hope you know how to turn on the fps counter ingame.
In my install I got 1024Mb selected for 8Gb system memory.

Stutter during radio messages is a stock game issue:

In the missions I'm building I usually turn off the radio for all flights except my own.

Thanks, VP! I had no idea the comms were tied to the stock game. Been trying to sort that one out for ages. Much appreciated for the link! Cheers!

Can I take all these great dgen campaigns and add them to the BAT mod install? If so what files would I need to copy over? Bat's great but it is sorely lacking in campaigns for ww2, basically it's all battle of Brittan stuff.

Go to your BAT install and rename the Dgen folder to -Dgen. This will serve as a backup in case things dot work out, you can revert to it.
Then simply copy the entire Dgen folder from vpmodpack to BAT. I've read about bugs with dgen campaign in BAT but they probably fixed those issues since then. Having the latest version of BAT is important. Also make sure that you run these campaigns in the ww2 module only.

Thanks for the timely reply, did exactly that and ran into some pretty glaring issues, namely with planes and maps. Didn't try all the campaigns, just settled on running DCG. Was just a tad bit disappointed with the lack of campaigns to run for the USAAF in the western front. They only have two for pacific stuff and that's basically with the default planes.

JonRedcorn,

You are not getting it right. You should be able to play in BAT W.A.W. (as well as in VP-Modpack) any campaign created for stock 4.12. There literally are a gazillion of missions available for any WWII theater you like. These won't take advantage of the many extras that come with (VP-Modpack and) BAT and that's what the BAT Missions and Campaigns board section is for.

Thanks vpmedia. I did so long ago and not all campaigns get generated right. Sometimes I get the "blue sky of death", sometimes waypoints simply don't get created, sometimes... It is a matter of trial and error until a campaign loads fine in BAT. Unfortunately, I don't know how to troubleshoot dgen campaigns. Aircraft issue? Map issue? No idea.

Sas1946.com is not really a campaign building site, we provide the tools (maps, objects, planes) to build your campaigns with the Full Mission Builder.
Imho all the campaign generators (stock dgen, Asuras modded dgen, DCG) have their limitations. There used to be a lively mission building scene, but most of those guys did not make the switch to mods. There are indeed hundreds of campaigns for the stock game at mission4today.com, all those will work well with vpmodpack.
