Look in the game folder for IL-2 Selector.exe
Launch with the Selector. Change the settings, Game Type to SAS ModAct, Change RAM Useage to 512MB, assuming you have at least that much RAM.
Then click on Start IL-2

VPModPack runs under SASModAct.

Thanks again.
Checked that and it was already set to those parameters.  Opened the game but it still looks no different (checking single mission types).
One thing - the mod patch 11 post seems to indicate a change to 'static.ini' is required, but where is this file?
Is this the only file that requires changing (apart from the config.ini that is)?

You installed the modpack in C:/Program Files (x86) and that might be the reason nothing really happens.
Windows7, 8 and 10 won't let you change files in that folder.
Create a new folder like 'Games' or 'IL2' or so in C:\  and copy-paste your default IL2 and modpack(s) in that particular folder.

Read here about W7 and Program Files:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=47077.12

And after you moved Il2 out of Program Files (x86) please create new shortcuts on your desktop.
The old ones lead to nowhere.  :D

The 'static.ini' is in #SAS\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects
Before adding anything to the 'static.ini' please back it up first! Mistakes are easily made by adding, changing or removing some lines.
Since this object list is so huge you don't know anymore what you changed and where.  ;)

First thing you should notice is the new loading screens which are paintings by Nicolas Trudgian.

The files added by this pack are these, make sure that its all there:

selector settings look like this in my game

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the responses.
I've installed IL-2 Ultimate edition (inc 1946) to a separate game folder on C Drive (not in programs folder).
Mega Patched and VP mod (inc changes required to Config and Static.ini files) and mod patches and Paint Schemes also added.

On start I see the new splash screen and loading screens.
All folders and files listed above are there.
Start/selector window is as above. (set to SAS Modact, RAM 1024).

It seems to run OK from what I can tell so far (although the UI selection screens remain the same) and given I'm more into single player than online multi-player.
However, I'll be transferring the game folder across to my gamer PC, which is Windows 10 and is much more powerful than the Windows 7  workstation PC it's installed on now (for testing).

It'll be interesting to it how it runs on that PC (see spec in signature).

Thanks again.

Hi All,
Well I transferred the IL-2 folder to my Gamer Windows 10 PC and set it up for my 34" wides screen monitor.
Have to say it looks good although some terrain trees/building suffer from 'popping' , usually mid distance.  Approach a built up area and buildings etc suddenly appear from the terrain tiles.
It's a drawing distance problem I'll need to get sorted.

Thanks VP.
I've tweaked a few settings but I'll give these a go.

BTW:  Is there anyway to disable aircraft/ground labels in single player campaigns.
They do rather 'get in the way' for me  ;)
