Sorry this might sound offensive, but Vasya's attempt to "fix" the FM is no longer compatible with the latest version of the mod.
Beside, there was never the need to "fix" anything, as the mod works perfectly in my 4.14.1m.

As for the engine, I'm using the "stock" Kinsei-54 (that strangely is assigned to Nakajima.emd) of 1235 hp.

Nothing wrong!
I'll correct it again.
Let those interested in mods for IL-2 have the opportunity
use Reisen's "more accurate" flight models.
I'm interested in something else:
why does the model have a methanol tank for the Kinsei-54?  ;D
And one more thing: the code for patches 4.12-4.14 is slightly different and the old classes need to be adapted for later patches, and it is better to make the mods standalone so that they do not depend on mods 5-10 years ago.
Yours faithfully!  :)
--------------------------
Everything works in patches 4.12.2 - 4.14.1.  :)
Thanks to the author of the mod!

Argh can't believe I overlooked that important detail. ]banghead[
As for the methanol tank, that's because I simply copied and pasted the FM from Tainan's A6M6. An updated Reisen FM would be much appreciated.
But I would like to stick to the stock Kinsei-54 under Nakajima.emd, instead of introducing another engine though.

I don't use default fm and motors,
because they do not represent the "correct" behavior of the aircraft in the simulator. Especially - I do not use default motors, which do not have similarities in their characteristics with real historical ones.
Adjusting the motor in the IL-2 simulator is a very painstaking task.
For the Grumman F4F3 Wildcat, I've been writing a motor for a week in order to reflect the power graph as accurately as possible in relation to the conditions of our ancient simulator.
I also have two more projects in development, so I will not deal with Reisen for a long time.
Success to you in modding!  :)

As per Vasya's suggestion, I've incorporated his physically accurate fmd and emd into my mod pack, as well as the main class file, to make it fully self-contained. This is basically his Reisen fix pack, I'm just adding the missing stationary planes and .ini entries. Please go to the first post to download.

The FM is now less UFO-ish, but can still hold its own against Corsair, and has a slight upper hand over Hellcat.

Thanks!
Since I have fixes installed in the MODS folder
on the Grumman F6F Hellcat and Chance Vought F4U Corsair,
then they fly according to performance characteristics and Reisen has no advantages over them in air combat. Even the Kinsei-54 installation does not give the Zero a good increase in flight performance.
In the IL-2 default, all performance characteristics of virtual airplanes have nothing to do with real prototypes.
In fact, both Hellcat and Corsair have significantly underestimated performance characteristics in default. I would say that this is not their performance characteristics.
Yours faithfully!

I was checking as well when I read that an upengined Zero should be superior to a F6F-5..
Balanced with more armour and self sealing fuel tanks in essentially a small weak structure, even more horsepower could not save the Zero...what it would have gained in power, it would have lost in more weight and therefor less climbing ability and maneuverability...

Vasya, could you make your Hellcat and Corsair fixes available?
I would be very interested in giving them a try...
I love all R-2800 powered fighters, the Corsair especially :)

thanks a lot for the link - my command of kyrillic reading is rather limited but I found a late Corsairs FM fix, a TBD FM fix (highly interesting :) ) and a FM-1/2 FM fix;
but is there a F4U-1 and F6F FM fix too somewhere buried in the 442 pages of that thread? :)

EDIT: google translate is my best friend - found the new FMs :) thank you very much!
now a short question: there is a host of new F4U1 and F6F FMDs but only one F4U1 FM in the rar and I have seen that the classfiles relate the FMDs to the FM - install wise do I replace the classes that are in my game with these new ones (I guess loading before the class folders of WAW should also work but creates double class files and possible conflicts?)
and where do I put the FMD files? and is there a new F6F FM too? or how do I get those to run?
sorry for the myriad of questions, but I am no expert in how the FMD, EMD and stuff work and interrelate in IL2...
and the last and most interesting question - do the Corsair and Hellcat fixes work in 4.12?

Fix Korsarov works with default models, as well as models from FreeIL2modding / forum.
I don’t have assemblies like BAT, so I don’t guarantee the performance of my mod fixes there.
In simple assemblies with diffim, my fix works in patches 4.12.2 - 4.13.4.
It is necessary to fix the fix completely with the class, otherwise the game will not see the new fm.

I think they should not cause CTD, though I can't guarantee these will be "used" by the system instead of existing class files and FM of late-model Corsair from previous mods.
But my gripe is with stock Hellcat (unnaturally sluggish), not Corsair (which is plenty hot enough). And I can guarantee you the new F6F FM works just fne.
