Request-A-1E, Ad-5, or a Ad-5W
« on: October 14, 2020, 08:19:26 AM »

Can someone make a A-1E, AD-5, or an AD-5W with a working tailhook and foldable wings?

Not much info on this... did she have folding wings to start with? I know the original Skyraider did but not sure about this... Is there any info Eli you could give us? Or this page will be destroyed...  :-X

I was a plane captain on AD-5s, also Guppies and Queens, with VAW-33 at NAS Quonset Point RI in 1962. I seem to remember folding wings on all. Later I actually go to fly in an AD-5 from NAS Oceana to NAS New York, (Floyd  Bennett Field). It was the squadron hack when I was with VA-42. The pilot was an A-6 Intruder jockey, and very unskilled at landing a tail dragger. We were shaken, but fortunately not stirred.

Yes, what a great idea. Would be a super add-on. Thanks for bringing it up.

They are exactly like regular A-1's just with a different body shape and purpose!
