"Improvised" Italian and Japanese submarines
« on: October 20, 2020, 04:19:20 PM »

Download here
OK since at this moment we have NO Italian submarines, and extreme scarcity of Japanese ones (a few "curiosity" vessels acquired in extremely limited numbers), I have decided to create a few slots for RM and IJN subs, while borrowing some existing visual models to stand in as some of the more numerous classes.
Note: my 3D modelling skill is not up to the task of creating brand-new visual models, so feel free to create YOUR OWN visual models if you're as appalled by these abominations as I do.

The visual models are borrowed from SAS~Sani's uboot pack, they're supposed to represent RM Acciaio class, RM CB midget sub (I know, WAY too large), IJN Kaichu classes, and IJN A class midget sub.
Requires western's sub length fix.

... that'd be great, if we could have a few Italian and French subs ...!  ;)

I just came across the incredible story of Italian submarine Macallé in 1940 ...  o_O

hallo Gents.
it could be a great mod italian submarine "Regio Sommergibile SCIRE'" . It has been  the most famous submergible in Regia Marina for its activities with "Arditi Incursori" . We can remember the Alessandria night with Luigi Durand de la Penne.
The Scirè was sunk in front of Haifa.

Japanese Type I-14 sub
Japanese Type I-401 sub
Sorry, but those are EXACTLY the "one-off" (or almost "one-off") classes I'm trying to avoid; otherwise, I could just settled for the existing I-400 (only 3 built) and never bothered with the new slots.
How else am I supposed to get a wolf pack like this:

or this

when only one or two ships of the entire class have been built.
Can't have a credible ASW campaign when only 1 or 2 subs are available in the entire Med or Pacific.
However, I'll give Adua class a shot, though I can't promise anything, as I'm not the one doing the modding (my wife does).

Hallo milvipes.
You are right.
The Scirè belonged to Adua submarines class, built 59 units.
I think this is a good number .
Whatever  will be your choice it will be another jewel on SAS.
Thanks
