The Late 290 was the main Torpedo Bomber floatplane of the French Aeronavale in the late Thirties, as the problems met in the development of the Late 298 prevent it to begin to enter in full service before the end of 1938.
A number of these planes remained in active anti-submarine service in the 1939-40 campaign.
This aircraft has the originality to be based on the well proven Late 28, the workhorse of the famed French Aeropostale whose pilots included St Exupery and Mermoz.
Typical of the French Aeronavale aircraft designed in the early of the Thirties, the pilot sat just ahead of the main fuel tank (and these planes, being designed to patrol over wide nautical ranges had a lot of fuel)!
This model is based upon the model of this plane made for Flightgear by the very talented modder Helijah (emmanuel beranger) who very kindly makes his models available through the Open License system - meaning in practice that these models must remain freeware and mention their authors.
Two thing remained to be done on this plane:
1) add French instrument bitmaps instead of the present British ones to its cockpit
(the cockpit itself could be better, so if you feel ready to improve it, please do!)
2) add to the armament options the smoke screen pots - I made the meshes but need to copy the java from the smoke screens pots I made from the US ordnance pack - once again just lazyness behind that
3) add the Torpedo sight (the same as on the Levasseur PL7 & PL15, was also used on the Late 298)
As usual you'll need the new French Arms pack:

Feel free to finalize and upgrade this plane where needed.
The planes have been tested in 4.122 modact 5.30, so will probably run smoothly also in BAT
Enjoy!
