Hell! looking at those screenies I am itching to get me some WW1 action.

 I installed the ww1 mods a couple of years ago and there was no allied and axis trench line that I can remember,  just randomly placed trenches which just didn't look right, and enemy aircraft  did not attack during missions which was disappointing because 'ww1' is my next favourite era after Bob.

 I installed Rof and first eagles2, but Rof's one stock campaign that I could play was pretty sterile and ' Rof' s dynamic campaign, although a great mod to the sim, just didn't grab me.  The fact that I had paid for a box copy with limited aircraft so that most stock campaigns bar one were unplayable, and that I could have downloaded the same for free online, left a sour taste.

First eagles2 had great 'ai' but the terrain and effects were not good as Il21946, and due to community politics, some aircraft required for most of the good custom campaigns were unavailable unless you  climbed up the bum of the owner of the site containing the aircraft, a rather sad and distasteful business.

I must fire up first eagles2 again though and attempt one of the stock campaigns.

@rogeroger -

Yeah, RoF saw me coming.  ;D

I love the campaigns in DoF that cover alternative fronts - Austro-Hungarian star strutters float my boat, and I might return to Gallipoli now that on screen text has been reduced. There's so much on offer that I'll forgive occaisional a.i/fm weirdness - it is what it is, and the whole ensemble has a nice 'feel' to it. A 'soul' compared to RoF's shiny sterility. I'll be forever grateful to the modders who, free of charge, put knowledge,time and love into what became DoF.

I'm sure that a lot of things have been updated in the Bat install of Dof since I last tried it as a standalone mod, the screenies look great. I will eventually install Bat to get at Dof. :)

A set of 'what if...?' campaigns for an authentic Turkish plane set I found over at M4T - I'll stick with it, but could be ripe for a reboot bringing up to BAT standards.

 W.i.p - DESPEREAUX's work on Carsmaster's grass textures...

...my immediate thought was that it would lend itself well to DoF. In two minds about long grass and WWII. Following with interest.  :)
