Nice one! I normally get at least one Airfix Spitfire starter set for Christmas and birthdays - down to my last two at the moment.  :))

The plan is to build the Sabres side by side for comparison - I've got a couple of Airfix Mig-15's knocking about somewhere for companion pieces.

Currently revising Soviet WWII uniforms - I'm thinking that most of my infantry figure collection are a bit too late to go with the KV2 and the T-35, no worries with the trucks, they served throughout the war and beyond. I'd originally envisaged a 'day the monsters came to the village' diorama, but can see problems with display and storage ahead. I might have to do a series of smaller bases, well...as small as the T-36 will allow. I've got some nice Tamiya early Soviets, but they're in combat poses. Pretty sure they're taken from 3D scans of yer actual yoomans in uniform, like the U.S tank crew - which is a stunning set if anybody out there wants to bring a U.S vehicle to life.

Strangely I've never been up on figure building. Mind you I may get into it if I want to do dioramas in the future for my aircraft!

Airfix's Sabre has got a high rating among professional and amateur modellers. The new Canadair Sabre is essentially the same tool but with RCAF markings. Which I think is very attractive personally, it'd be nice to see MiG-15's join the lineup as well. I made the terrible Airfix MiG-15 back in 2005 and it was well... crap... :))

Still, like me you've put your flight joystick down and got into something more promising, granted IL-2 is what brings us here but it's nice to accompany it with something of the same genre but showing personal skills outside of the sim.  8)

Yes, if I can't fly it, paint it or strum it, forget it. Only so many hours in the day.  ;D

Figure painting is my first love, I think I mentioned way upthread I got into vehicles as a means of something for my figs to stand around and sit on...

(Revell Luftie pilot and groundcrew set, Tamiya Bf109 - 1/48th - check out their 1/72 range if you haven't already)

I love getting a face just right on big figs...

(My Verlinden 120mm Soviet sniper - the boxtop pic doesn't do the sculpture justice. How can I put it diplomatically? She looks a bit like...er, a malnourished grandmother on the box.)

HMS Prince of Wales, like KG.V and HMS Rodney they helped sink the German Battleship Bismarck in 1941. Shame after that triumph the PoW was sunk...  :-|

Also nice vid Andy of the Lancaster... 1/32 is huge for such an aircraft. A friend on social media sent me a link and she costs in British money £360! Insane!! Also when you've bought it where would you put it? :))

The ambulance from the old Airfix emergency set posed next to my Corgi Wellington. The plan is to do the fire engine from the same set along with the bowsers from the refueling set in the same Mickey Mouse ear scheme and scatter them amongst my diecast collection...maybe eventually incorporating the more recent offerings from Airfix's RAF vehicle range.

I've reclaimed the dining table. Right, let's get this show on the road...

ICM Soviets having a picnic set...

An earlier ICM offering - a couple of nice figures and a bloody awful one, not comparable to more recent offerings...

A couple from the aforementioned Tamiya U.S tank crew...

Time to make a start on some of those undercoated and abandoned figures - back when I've made some progress.  ;)

Slo-o-o-o-w progress, life has conspired against me today, best laid plans and all that. Basically finishing off faces I'd already started, Russian peasant embroidery will have to wait. Resigned to a trip to my local modelling emporium tomorrow to obtain fresh paint and brushes. Of course, I'll manfully resist blowing the rent money on a ton of vehicles and figures... ::)

Quick update - now resupplied with preferred paints, the two figs have been shaded with a sepia wash, which I'll make sure is thoroughly dry before highlighting. Fading light here means I'll probably build something tonight before returning to the figures in natural light. They're very much a work in progress at the moment, but I'm happy with how they're coming along, and itching to get stuck in to their companion pieces...

I'm afraid I couldn't resist temptation at the model shop - but then I reckon you all saw that coming... ;D

Like most of Tamya's older offerings, this one is a simple build at a comparatively reasonable price that should scrub up nicely by the time I've covered those vinyl tracks in Berlin brick dust and put some figures in and around it. I've got just the set in mind.  :)

I must admit Andy I'm as bad as you in terms of having so many kits yet end up buying more! :))

I've just purchased the Matchbox Spitfire Mk.IX off eBay, the reason is that it's a model I've never built and it apparently has aged well. So I'm looking forward to that! 8)

A T-34 eh? I've never made a model of a tank it's always been aircraft... tell me are they easy or very difficult?  :-|
