Andrei looks pretty miserable, you'll have to make him a chicken. ;D
In reply#676, Shura  plays a rendition of her composition 'лестница в небеса'   translated as  'Stairway to heaven', shamefully plagiarized by Led Zeppelin.  ;)

Love your modeling pics.
Great work!

;D   A nice change from those bloody accordionists I'm accumulating! I'm thinking maybe a blues/folk jam with the G.I on the banks of the Elbe. Thanks for kind words.  :)

Natural light at last - final touch-ups and on to the next batch. Uncle Vlad's missing a cigarette. That'll be the absolute finishing touch - too delicate to consider at the moment.

Viktor is musically gifted, always tapping out a rythm or humming a catchy tune, which - more often than not - he's made up himself. Who knows where that gift might take him if only his family had an instument to hand down...

The ensemble's beginning to look like I want them. I'm starting to imagine them outside their houses and loitering near vehicles...

...and chasing chickens, obvs.  ;)

Grandpa Ivan likes smoking his pipe and enthralling the village children with stories of the things he's seen and done during his long and eventful life. Grandma Oxana says he makes half of it up, but proudly cares for the collection of trinkets he brought back from his travels, betraying at least a grain of truth in his tales...

Grandma Oxana keeps herself busy by making sure nobody goes hungry or thirsty in the village. Now that the soldiers have arrived, she's even busier. They call her 'Mother'. Some have promised to write after they move on. She likes that.

Lovely stuff!
Have you ever tried making your own figures? A chap I knew quite a few years back started making Boer war figurines out of lead for some extra cash. Painted, they looked brilliant, but he suffered from lead poisoning because he didn't use an extractor fan when he melted the lead.  :)

I've considered it, but to be honest, it would be so time-consuming compared to the convenience of picking up a box of plastic figures. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting some resin 1/35 figures in the near future, and one fine day I'll dig out my 120mm (1/16) resins. I've got a nice little collection I started when I bought a very expensive Norman knight and thought 'why not?' when offered a really cheap Soviet naval infantryman with the order. Having envisaged collecting Romans and medievals, the Reds took over.

I do the occasional very simple figure conversion from spare parts and modelling clay - this cheeky chappie began life in the old Tamiya Bren carrier kit...

And there they are done (apart from Uncle Vlad's ciggie). De-glossed with Revell matt varnish. It's a dirty shade of white until it dries - don't be frightened of it.  ;)

Time to put these little folk to one side and get some more done.

I wasn't aware of resin being used as a medium, quite brittle I'd imagine. I checked Google images for some pics and resin seems to be quite popular in the fantasy genre. The nice texured finish favours models that show a lot of skin. :-[ ;D

Oh yes, it's very smooth... ;D

So I popped out for some more paint. Damn you, local model shop! Damn you to Hell!

Time to blow a hole in the stash. The old Tamiya T-34/85 - a very simple build indeed. Certainly showing its' age, but I reckon she'll look the part with a lick of paint and some weathering...

...the carpet monster's already eaten a small part - I'm hoping there's a spare in the ICM kit.

Quick update on the plastic madness. Plans interupted (again!), but no real problems with treating this one as a quick build. There's life in those old kits yet. No figures with this kit, so I tried one from a Trumpeter set for size - he passed the audition. The grab handles were fiddly and bothersome, but I found a tarpaulin in the spares box that negated the need for most of them on the starboard side. Just the tow cables to add and it'll be off to my state of the art cardboard box spray booth for an undercoat. Thanks to this old kit starting out as a battery-powered toy - albeit nicely detailed for the time - the upper and lower hull are detachable, making painting and weathering easier.

I did warn you about the accordions...

In Russia there is no such thing as too many accordions. ;D
Simple but effective model build, just like the original T34, itself also simple but effective with its rough turret weld marks, until it met the tiger that is. :)

Cool clip from the T34 tank movie: https://youtu.be/f7F5tef1ACE
