Laptop Keyboard mapping question
« on: December 22, 2020, 09:48:19 AM »

Hello Good morning /afternoon /evening/night to all from pariah London.
Using my time to play around in FMB. I can place objects on maps but cannot rotate them. As there is no keypad on the keyboard. Can someone pls tell me what, if any, keys are assigned to rotate objects. Normal row of numbers don't seem to do the same function.. Probably obvious, but probably a senior moment. Thnx M

On your keyboard, somewhere "NumLock" function key might exist around upper right F11 - F12 area.
Push that "NumLock" key with "Fn" key perhaps on lower left, then entered to Number Lock mode and Numpad area becomes working.

Push again "Fn + F-NumLock" to exit Number Lock mode.

My F11 key has the symbols for fast fwd only and when in game or FMB, F11 is used by my installation of graphics extender

Hi OLD_DAD!

Open your conf.ini in the games main folder with notepad, scroll down to the [HotKey builder] section and look for following entries:

NumPad-5=resetAngles
NumPad-8=resetTangage90
NumPad-7=stepAzimut-5
NumPad-4=stepAzimut-15
NumPad-1=stepAzimut-30
NumPad-9=stepAzimut5
NumPad-6=stepAzimut15
NumPad-3=stepAzimut30

Now simply wipe out NumPad- in each of these rows, so it reads 5=resetAngles for example.

This way you assign the NumPad-keys to the normal 1 - 9-keys and you can rotate your objects.

BEWARE: There are some other entries with NumPad in front - leave them untouched unless you need the function in question. You simply can then assign a key that is not otherwise used in FMB for it.
Don't forget to backup your original conf.ini just in case.

Of course you can attach a normal keyboard by USB instead.

Have a nice day!
BigMug.
