An-24 Coke / An-26 Curl 's skinable patch V2, 12/Jan/2021

B.A.T. v4.1 has Antonov An-24 Coke and An-26 Curl transporters ; single version was published in aviaskins.

That version was impossible to apply user custom skins.
I edit its text msh files to make skinable.

Drop this patch to match original folder level.

This patch is made for B.A.T. v4.1.1 about classfiles contents with B.A.T.'s cod/ files.
It may not work on Original single version.

V2 patch uses more uv areas for nose radome, propellers + spinners, tail gate .... so V1 skins become mismatching to this version.


1k skin sample for both An-24 and An-26.
Skins folder names are "AN-24" and "AN-26".

I don't touch 3d model big feature limitation etc. like An-24 model is not An-24 but with An-26 tail.
Damage textures are not good, need better ones.

Original An-24 texture is switched to An-26's skin as historical.
"LOT_SPLTE_An24.bmp" is a merged one from Seb's work published in SAS.









In 3do/ ... folders, those 4x .tga and 4x .mat files are no more needed.

Antonov An-24 and An-26 are excellent sturdy aircraft.
Where there are no good airfields, they are irreplaceable.
It's like a Kalashnikov assault rifle.
Crooked, scary, but ALWAYS shoots.

NOTICE about the patch's unfinished status and near + far future plans:


The first patch doesn't do any 3D model / UV mapping retouch.

But some parts of the model contains troubles making hard us about skinning.
I'll try to fix them in some steps.

1. Starboard side door's UV
Change into smoothly matching CF's UV without mirror X mirror.
This change will bring the necessity of texture redraw when some text or markings are set there.

2. Rudder's UV and polygon smoothing
Change into smoothly matching Keel's UV.
Perhaps no need about texture redraw.
Strange shine and shadow trouble will be solved, too.

3. Keel's UV ? or Keel's default texture ?
I have to figure out what I have to do about it.
Current model + default texture set makes mismatching visual between left side and right side of the keel and the rudder.
When that trouble came from only default texture's drawing mistake, I'll retouch only the default texture (and custom skins) and not about UV mapping.
But when it came from UV mapping, I'll try to edit it.
Or .... both are needed ? All will be after the research the true cause.

 --- so far those 3 points are important and necessary things, I'll finish at least and publish the next patch first.

Optional things:

4. Move some UV and get a new spare area on the current default skin, map there about nose gear bay door + nose radome
When the skin's berry is not colored with gray (like white or blue) , the nose gear bay door cannot paint that color. I want to fix it.
And some airliners paint radome area with colored strips, it will become possible after radome's UV map is moved onto the default area. Even its resolution will be poor (only narrow space will be prepared).

5. Also about tail cargo door external polygons
Now it is not skinable. Move it into a part of default skin's spare area.

 --- I don't promise I can do those options.

V2 patch is out now in my 1st post.

Changes in the V2:

- Rebuild 3d of keel + rudder to fix visual glitches and UV mismatching Left-Right.
- Retouch the default texture and custom skins about keel + rudder.
- Recover some missing hooks.
- Add Anti-Collision red flash lights.
- Those external parts are made newly skinable --- Nose radome, Tail gate, each Gears' bay doors, Propeller blades + spinners
 - New colors are set on the default / custom skins for their new UV areas.
- A few parts are added LOD models for far view.

- Classfiles are re-written in 4.12.2m native style , FM is added Engine mod features.
- Starboard side door can be open as Canopy Open key. Tail gate is assigned to Bomb bay Open key. Anti-Collision lights is its own key.
- Flaps' animation is made into Fowler flap one.

"V2" HD texture has been provided. Jump from the 1st post.

Please wait some days to post "V2" skin template.

A question about rotating direction of propellers / engines of An-24 or An-26.

I feel the current MOD's direction might be wrong.
But I cannot find the historical spec data about prop rotating direction.
When I'll get sure as wrong ..... I'll fix it in their FM.
