Theres a fs 2004 version too; not sure how convertible she is

A question that has been asked many times before.......

It is possible to rip models out of other sims, if you think that is ethical or legal .. that is your concern. (If you need to ask how to do this, then you don't need to know)...   ;)

Here is an example in it's raw form ..... freshly ripped  :D

However this is just the first step in a long, long process. Not only in the 3d mapping, poly reduction (usually). then cutting, smoothing, creating necessary  LODs + damage and shadow meshes etc   to align with IL2 requirements ..... followed by  control surface, door and gear animation, coding, flight model generation and various load-outs  Then repeat most of the above for the cockpit.

We are talking about months or years of someone's free time to do it properly so that the aircraft behaves like it should in the game. I, like many others,  no longer have the luxury of spare time or the inclination to devote a life to that.

I for one would love to fly a Vulcan along the valleys etc of the Banff map.
... but do you love it enough to learn how to make that wish a reality ? ... that is the real question ...  ;)

I hope that helps.  ;)

The task needs encouraging, not discouraging.

To kim 4 - no one discourages anyone, but it shows the whole process of making a mod.

For SAS ~ GJE52, I'm not here to judge if there's something moroly or not making an airplane mod by converting from another game because I can't make planes myself and I'm grateful for all the planes made. But I also know that a lot of planes in this game were created this way.

... actually not that many, but it still doesn't make it right. However, it happens a bit more these days... BUT.. how many of these "great modders" have the courtesy to state the source of the model or even ask permission, or credit the author ... ?

 :( .. none...

Credit where it's due: Barnesy once imported the Skyhawk from a model made by "Ben Harber" aka "Midnight7" and he officially stated that fact and apparently he had permission of the author to do the import.
So it's not exactly "none" doing it right, it's rather "almost no one".
And when I say "doing it right" I surely don't refer to all other strings, gongs and tinsel attached to that ill fated Skyhawk mod... it's history anyway, the plane has seen the better end of modding history in terms of BAT integration long time since.

Yes, you are right. For all his faults .... and there are many ... at least he did credit the author .
