Thanks Andy!
An interesting fact about barrage balloons. They were meant to prevent fast low level attacks against a friendly target which would make it difficult for anti aircraft to take the enemy aircraft down. The height of the barrage balloons confined the enemy to higher altitude attacks which made them better targets for aa gunners.
It seems that the bright, sometimes silver colour of the barrage balloon was meant to be seen by the enemy so that they would shift to a higher altitude, as apposed to the camouflage used by observer balloons during WW1. Of course that's just my totally uninformed opinion.
the current barrage balloon model is split into 3 sections viz. anchor, cable and balloon. I will attempt to combine the 3 models and create a static entry so that they can be placed in their respective areas on the map via the unlocked FMB, then mission builders don't have to waste their time placing them on the 352nd map.
This will create a seperate model for uk barrage ballons. Using my barrage model in my previous post still has the advatage of changing the default barrage balloons model to the newer one in older bob missions on the canon maps.
This site contains valuable info as to where they were placed and in what numbers, during the war.
