Excellent work so far Glen, the wait for the finished article is torment though. ;)

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Thanks guys!

That crusader castle Krak des Chevaliers is stunning. I'll see if I can find a doccie featuring it.

I have  placed the Deal beachfront roads and buildings. I did not think this small landmark would make such a big impression and was in two minds whether to include it in the first place. I am glad that I did.

I have switched back to my reworked 352nd terrain and it has a more pleasing effect on the eye. It has less trees and works better with the photoreal based model textures. I think I will keep this as the default terrain. I may add just a few more trees to the tree masks.

G'day Rogeroger

The series you want to chase down is called Battle Castle, six episodes hosted by Dan Snow.

Thanks for the info genXgamer! :)

This is the local castle in my area, the castle of Good Hope, built by Dutch colonists and later occupied by the British.
The pipe band of which I was a member had a band room and pub located in the red roofed buildings just outside the  castle near the top of the pic.
I used to go there on weekends for some personal practice and sometimes go for a walk across the battlements afterwards.

There is an awesome view of Table mountain from the battlements.

Now you know why I like these Dutch styled forts so much. ;D

There are some awesome looking castles around the world as well as religious buildings, certainly something
worth the time and effort to make, what a place for band practice you had. 8)

There was me thinking you were American, you are South African then, Piet, one of the founders of this site
is also from there, you might actually live around the corner, who knows, the world is smaller than we think. ;)

The roads and the castle were certainly worth the time, the little details amount to much once the whole project
is done, the difficulty is knowing what to leave out, however, significant buildings are a must because no matter
their overall relevance they are things aircrew might just need to identify to get them where they need to be, friend
or enemy.

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Jpten gave me some usefull target info and I need to check and see what I've missed, so there may be more landmark models in the future.

Have a great week Pete. :)

I've spent some time in Weymouth over the past few days with the following results:

The old Pavillion and fort Nothe were fun builds. The Pavillion model was meant to be very simple, but once I got started I had to add more detail.

Awesome looking map mod.  Well done.  Is this going to be only playable by high end systems given the extra details/objects?

Thanks guys, and I'm glad you like it Andy H.

The harbour models and cliffs are low poly models so I cant see them affecting the framerate much. If your pc can handle Canon map's London missions, then I don't foresee a problem with this map. If there are framerate issues I can trim town and city objects. When I start creating some missions for various areas then I will know for sure.
I placed this earlier:
