Across from Sheerness was the Isle of Grain.  A chain barrier ran from a control point at Sheerness Harbor to an old Martel type tower (Grain Tower) with a twin 6-pdr. QF gun.  The chain was raised and lowered to allow ships to past and was primarily to impede a U-Boat at night sneaking into the Medway.

Edited Google earth images were only used in the creation  of the 'individual harbour model textures'. I also used them as guides for the creation of the 3d harbour mesh.

 I use a Bob2wov city terrain texture which I edited to achieve the pavement effect. This texture uses the city1 slot in the load.ini , and is used for most towns and villages. See page 1, reply number 8.

 I have also modified the Canon map city texture to achieve the same road pavement effect which I will use in Brighton and London where more variety is required due to the large area. This texture is allocated to city2 slot.

City 0 slot, I will use for a texture that I will create, probably from Google earth for French towns when I get to them.

In city slot 3, I have used the sk factory texture as a base for a new industrial area texture.

Thanks jpten for the info. :) I will check for old images on the net, and see what I can do.

If anybody has any suggestions for other interesting landmarks that I can model for the map, I am open to suggestions. These could also be used in the other channel maps.

Your city textures are very immersive, especially with those pavements, much better than those stock ones.
Looking forward to the release the map . I am asking you to be so kind and allow those textures to use also in my products..

You will be most welcome to use any textures and models in whatever project you create. :)  I am also adding new building objects as I go, which of course will expand the current object library.

 I always enjoy working in the Thanet area, did some general town placements here as well yesterday, working my way up towards Cantebury.

Great level of details.  Wasn't expecting to see this level of details for the UK map after BoB2 - amazing work.

You'll have to model a small Nigel Farage figure if you're recreating Thanet ;D ;D.........for target practice
