Spitfire Mk.IXe ''The Longest Day'' Skinpack
« on: May 02, 2021, 02:52:23 AM »

Hi all on SAS,

Here I present a skinpack of some Spitfires from the all time classic film of D-Day 1944, The Longest Day from 1962.

The aircraft in the movie appear briefly and most notably there was a scene where two Mk.IXe Spitfires strafe a column of retreating German troops from Normandy, they only appear in one scene but they're the only genuine aircraft from that era in the film. The two Spitfires cause havoc on the column with the Major Werner Pluskat's Kubelwagen being hit and crashing in flames. Although he survived being strafed he looks up and stares at the two Spits flying away...

These skins were particularly difficult to make due to only black and white pictures of the aircraft that exist. However due to judgement and perseverance I managed to crack it. Also due to the single scene use of these Spitfires they were hastily painted up in Free French colours, representing 340 Sqn.

Blanks and Generics included.
