Request - Wrecked Bomber

G'day Everyone

During the Allies advance through New Guinea and Solomon Islands many captured airfields were littered with wrecked and abandoned aircraft.
A number of missions I've created I would of liked to include wrecked Japanese aircraft especially G4M Betty Bombers but there are no wrecked bombers available.
My request is for a wrecked/damaged G4M or even a generic 2 engine bomber.
Ideally I would also like to see a wrecked Zero.

Unfortunately the only static objects (planes) destroyed that exist are few!
F4U / Me-262 / P-39 / P-40 / Spitfire / Ju-87 / Horsa
But making all the existing planes (+2000 ?) in the game would be a Herculean task!

There is  WIP mod by Asura on Aviaskins that is aimed at allowing to make easier this task of creating wrecked planes. Would be worth asking him the status of this mod and what he thinks on the subject.

As an interim method, here's something you might want to try although I'm not sure of the FPS hit if too many are used.

During a Pacific bombing campaign I wanted a crashed bomber near the end of the runway (a B-29).  I took a B-29 and placed it with two waypoints, no fuel and no armament(default), zero speed and 0ft  or lowest altitude (I can't remember the exact parameters).
Essentially you spawn an aircraft low over the ground with no fuel, no speed hence nowhere to go so it simply drops at the first waypoint and is destroyed.

This gave me a smoking B-29 just off the runway.  Again, I can't remember the exact parameters without going into FMB again but you get the idea.  As I said, because it's not a 'static' object I'm not sure if a number of these might affect FPS etc. 

I think another option is to place a static aircraft then place an 'enemy' vehicle (with a gun) right next to it so that on spawn the veh shoots and destroys the aircraft.  i.e. Place your static Betty bomber at a Japanese airfield but make it Red.  Place a Japanese AA gun or armed vehicle close to it.  On spawn the AA gun/veh should automatically engage the 'enemy' aircraft until destroyed and if it's far enough away from your start point then it will be a wreck by the time you arrive.  For your scenario of a captured airfield, I think simply placing 'blue' Betty's on a 'red' airfield that has AA or armed vehs, they will automatically engage and destroy those aircraft making them wrecks.  The downside is that if you are spawning at that airfield you will see the engagement too until they are destroyed.  I also seem to remember someone colliding a vehicle with an aircraft too in order to get the same effect (i.e. a static plane and another ground object spawning in the same spot) but I may be mistaken on that. 

Anyway, I hope this helps or at least gives you some ideas.

It seems to me we are looking backwards through this lens.
What I mean is , there are hundreds of AC in IL2 now. It would be a herculean feat
to provide static wrecks of each aircraft as a separate object.

I seem to remember waaaay back in the original IL2 , that using the destruction tool in FMB , you were able to select the
destroyed ( ie DeadSim ) version of aircraft ( and I thought vehicles and guns too ) using the destruction tool.

Whether or not this is a fiction of my aging mind , it still points at the most elegant solution.
Each stationary aircraft has a destroyed version in the sim - this is what the game selects and shows
after a stationary object is hit by ground fire , strafed , or bombed.

The most direct route to addressing this issue , is to enable this option from within the destruction tool.
The only issue that I think would occur would be with mod aircraft that do not have stationaries with a complete model
including the deadsim version.
There could be an option to create generic destroyed models of single , twin , and four engine aircraft to make up for any
that don't have an individual deadsim version .
Obviously these would have to be so beat up that you could not distinguish between types , but this could work as a
stop gap.

I fully realise that these are just thoughts , and require skills that I do not possess to be applied by someone else on their own time ,
but I think such a solution would serve every mission maker well.

Very old tip from ~2009... I think!
Don't set the altitude below 8m otherwise the plane will roll instead of crashing!

I think this trick doesn't work on any version of the game... for having tried it !

There were several versions of IL2 prior to UP2.01.
I am speaking of the very first release ( c2001 ) .
My point is not to be argumentative , but to state that the coding work is
likely already out there somewhere , and might save an interested party the effort
of creating it.
