Hello all,

After spending several days uninstalling and reinstalling the Steam v4.13.4, Il-2 1946 edition...attempting the 'unpatch' programs, many thanks to "Black Ace 7727" for telling me of its existance, and consuming copious amounts of coffee, I cleared my 'puter of all things IL-2 1946, especially the registry files and started over.

With a fresh download from Steam that I moved to c:\Games, I tried the "unpatch" program again and it worked!  So, now I have 4, with more to come , clean copies of v4.12.2 and of course I want to use every mod that is available but, I am much older and wiser than I once was and I listened to the advice posted about going slowly, carefully and methodically.

I have been reading all day and I think that my eyes have bled a bit and the headset that I wear that allows my heavily impaired eyes to read is running quite low on battery power and my 74 year old brain is tired so, I am making a request.

I know that somewhere in this amazing site there is a fairly simple step by step guide, written for the lay-person, as to how one should go about adding mods to this awesome flight sim.  I have looked and cannot find one but, I'm hoping that someone will direct me to it or post something like that for me.

I'm tired now, got up at 4:00 AM CST and I need to hobble out to feed the chickens and with that, I bid you all,

Hey geezer.  From one geezer to another:  I won't offer any details about loading BAT.  Some other cats will pop on, I'm sure.

I'll only offer how to load up on UltraPack...the online version...which is quite good too.

You say you have a few copies of 4.12.2 available...well abuse one of them with this.

Both BAT and UP3 co-exist here, so for UP3...try this:

 OK, are you going to want to install individual mods or do you just want it all in one package?

 I strongly advise you to install an all in one package if you have hard drive space.

 Patiently download the 13 zips and the installer.

 Run the installer and point it to your IL2 folder and let it do its thing.
 Do not do anything, let it do its job.

 Launch the game with the IL2 Selector which is located in the main IL2 folder and has a red star in a blue
 square in front of it. When the selector window pops up click on "Change Settings" and make sure it
 says: "B.A.T. World at War 1936 - 1946". Then click "Save Settings". Then click "Start IL2 Now!"

 The first time you launch might take awhile to load but after that the load time is way less.

  If all has gone well you have the main WWII module with more content than you or I (76 here. )
  and most others here will ever play through.

 This is absolutely imperative : You must have a working BAT 4.0 before you add 4.1.

 With a working 4.1 you will have  early flight, WWI, golden age of flight, Spanish Civil War, WWII,

Thanks guys for the input and the suggestions for my first effort of modding, which I must say has turned out very well.  I am amazed at the content in the mods that were recommended.

Now I have to make additions in the control pages so my Voice Attack profile settings will all work in the mods.  Does anyone else use Voice Attack?
