This campaign is a 10-mission fighter campaign for the Regia Aeronautica Dewoitine D520 over Sicily in 1943. It was written and tested using the SAS BAT Modpack and will require BAT 4.1.3 or later to work properly. The campaign was created by Lars and Von.

It was used in various actions from 1940 to 1944 by the French, Croatian, Bulgarian and Italian Air Forces. The Germans also used them as trainers.
The Italians received 35 which were allocated to nine different Squadrilgie, albeit in small numbers. Their main fighters lacked cannon so the D520s came in handy with their reliable 20mm HS404 nose cannon until the new generation of home-built fighters became more numerous. Unfortunately, the Dewoitine’s ammunition supply was low so usually only one firing pass was achieved, and of course enemy bombers were often too fast for a second attack to close in.
The main user was 22 Gruppo which for the most part defended Naples city and harbour areas. The main opponent was the B24D Liberator, against which it had a few successes. Some D520s were assigned to 167 Night Fighter Gruppo, alongside the more successful Re2001CN.
InstallationThis campaign was written and tested using the SAS BAT Mod Pack, available here at SAS. It may work on other modded systems but the campaign uses Command and Control objects and Triggers, so many mission features would be lost or unworkable.
Extract the FOS_D520.zip file to a temporary directory.
• Copy the decompressed Missions folder and the decompressed PaintSchemes folder to your IL-2 1946 root folder.
• In the New Pilot Career page, choose Regia Aeronautica in the Air Force selection drop-down. Choose Fire over Sicily Part 2: the Dewoitine D520 in the Career drop-down.
• We recommend turning off No Instant Success for this campaign.
• The campaign is designed to be compatible with any rank selection.
