AI night fighters

So I have searched for any info on ai night fighters and didn't find anything. I have a rough idea how it worked in real life, could anyone give me just a little broad advice on how or even if ai night fighters work in BAT?

AI has serious trouble finding targets at night.
AI routines all over Il-2 (this is base game stuff) works by sight. Sight is impaired by clouds and bad lighting. What is an immersion enhancement in daylight conditions is actually hampering any AI nocturnal combat abilities.

Night fighting is pretty much a player's game.
