IL-2 Selector 4.0.2 - User error - Solved

Hi

I have a strange problem with IL-2 Selector 4.0.2, I can't get it to launch any modded game I've tried.  :(

Background:
I copied my modded IL-2 1946 folder from my Windows XP computer to my Windows 10 computer, and the Selector worked perfectly on the Windows XP computer.

I have no problems starting the stock game through the selector, but no modded games work and I have tried DOF, TGA & WAW.

I started with the Selector inluded in BAT 4.1.3 and when I couldn't get it to work I instelled Selector 4.0.2.

Since IL-2 never starts there is no log.lst file to check.

Whatever the issue is, it's not related to the selector.
I suspect a mods conflict.

Ok, but I haven't changed anything after I copied the installation from the XP computer to the Windows 10 computer, and it works on the XP computer.

If it was a mod conflict wouldn't modded Il-2 atleast start loading?

Any ideas what to do?

Since there is no log.lst it's hard to know what to try next.

if you use a new version of the selector, make sure to use ALL files from the new version;
I had this problem once because I used some older files as well with a newer Selector version - bad idea! and check that you have the files in place in the correct folder structure;
also, check if there is any firewall running in the background, that blockes the il2fb.exe file from running...could be even Win10s own WindowsDefender or however it is called nowadays...

Another thing that consequently stops IL-2 from starting up is a wrong screen resolution setting in conf.ini.
Either case, IL-2 Selector ships with a Startup Debugger, which is what I'd recommend to try.

What I've tried so far is to redo the copying in case something whent wrong there, so I'm back with the Selector shipped with BAT 4.1.3.
I modified the resolution in config.ini to match the Windows 10 computer, so that should be fine.

My antivirus software thought il2fb.exe was a suspicious file and sent it to quarantine, but I was able to get it back and added it as an exception together with IL-2 Selector.exe, that happened yesterday.

I've also tested to stop the antivirus software before starting IL-2 Selector, which didn't help.

I hope the Startup debugger can help solving this problem, it says "Exception in thread "main".

Yes that helps.

"no SAS Common Utils in java.library.path"
Sounds like your copied game isn't a one-on-one copy.
At least the file "SAS Common Utils.dll" is missing.
It belongs to the game's root folder.

Additionally, you are not using IL-2 Selector 4.0.2 - as indicated by the log, you're still using 4.0.0.3.
Mind you: After updating the Selector, you always have to run "IL-2 Selector.exe" once, click "Change Settings" and then click "Save Settings" to get all updated files to reside in their correct locations.

What puzzles me a bit is that you've stated...
Since there is no log.lst it's hard to know what to try next.
...because with the log shown here, there is a log.lst (unless you've disabled logging in conf.ini) and we could have been there from the very beginning.

quick suggestion: try one module for starters and look for all lines in static and chief.ini that contain "BaronUnger" and change them to "BaronUngern"...
that should get rid of that error at least...
as this one should be fixed though a long time ago, I strongly suspect your copy is not complete or up to date and you are running an older version of BAT....

Problem solved and it goes under the category user error, sorry for wasting everybodys time.  :-[

Background:
I have one IL-2 1946 install where I can run different mods and game versions as BAT, DBW, UP3, VPM etc.
So specific BAT files that belongs the main IL-2 1946 folder and are different to stock files I add throug JSGME.

I haven't been running BAT for some time now and this time I forgot to add those BAT specific files including SAS Common Utils.dll.  :-[
