BAT Red Core fan question about future updates ?
« on: August 30, 2021, 11:51:27 AM »

I'm not very well acquainted with the inner workings of IL-2 "46. Just enough to get the previous expansions and BAT Red Core up and running well graphics wise. Just add skins and missions. Mess up every time i add effect, aircraft and such. That is why i love BAT ! Everything is already done for you ! Easy. One question though, Will there be updates with effects and clouds, and other improvements ,without adding so many more aircraft ? LoL ! Always could use another one ! Seriously ,Us not so smart guys would sure like to see better effects in a update in the future.  Regards,Scott

Hi, Scott!
WxTech is still working on updating his effects pack, and I suspect we'll see a new update for it in the not-so-distant future. That said, popular mods which prove to be stable do wind up in the BAT updates as they come. Our modders are constantly at it, but they have to consider what the average system specs are for us flyers. One mod can look beautiful, yet slow some of us down to a crawl. I appreciate that these improvements come in "baby steps" so as not to lose half the community. But I do not doubt for a minute that there will be some great new work in the next update when it does come. It's how we got to where we are today.

Hello bird,

We may not have lost half of our members but here in the forum we unfortunately have less than half of the visitors on board, if I think of the times of 6 or 8 years ago.

Unfortunately, those missing visitors missed the best of "IL-2 1946 ..."!  ;)

Loyalty is mostly rewarded!

Hello Guys, I'll take the updates, planes and all, but there are so many now ,just can't fly them all .That's a good thing ! IL-2 '46 BAT is the easiest and most comprehensive WW II air combat sim ever !

AS far as WW II goes i'm into another air combat sim that takes up a lot of time modding and improving so to have a air combat sim that is simple and has all i really need is great. That means more time in the "air" than wrenching .That's a good thing. Thanks the the whole BAT Team for all the effort and passion put in this nearly flawless sim ! Looking forward to more improvements in the future. Regards,Scott

The most "bang for the buck" is in theaters and missions that other simulators still don't have, or at least do well. Modded IL2 1946 is still the cutting edge for certain settings and missions (for example, massed bomber formation missions, Pacific missions, carrier-based, night fighters, seaplane/flying boat missions, secret weapons, etc). Mods and improvements that help with those areas, I think, tend to be the most effective. I'm enjoying BAT with a few extra mods and add-in missions, particularly in the Pacific theater and off carrier decks. I fly CLOD/Tobruk sim when I want North Africa or Britain, or IL2BoX/DCS for multiplayer western Europe. But IL2 1946 with BAT mod is still cutting edge when it comes to the places and aircraft that other simulators leave untouched.

In CFS3 we have all Theaters ,except the Eastern Front. That is what got me into IL-2 '46 in the first place. Ample Russian aircraft to fly. Better than CFS3 in some regards and vise versa. Love them both. IL-2 '46 BAT IS the most comprehensive WW II air combat simulator though. Regards,Scott

Agree. I am thrilled to what level the game has risen - given that it is 20 years old. Thanks to everyone who are actively involved in making new mods, skins, patches, etc. Salute to BAT team!

Thanks to ALL those who have done so much to make IL-2 '46 so great ! Have quite a few other air combat sims. BAT Red Core is now getting my attention . For jets i like SF2 series ,for WW II it's BAT and CFS3-(and it's expansions). NOTHING compares to BAT for WW II in my book. More aircraft, maps, missions, and more than whatever is out there. I hope it's around another 20 years ! Never gets old ! Regards,SCott

I've heard about CFS3, but never played it. What do you like about it and do you think that it has stuff to offer that BAT doesn't?
