Hello everyone,
After working on an alternative aircraft list for The Jet Era (JTW), there is one thing I noticed:
The mixture of 1950s - 1970s (The Evolutionary Era and modern era) doesn't look right. It is like combining DOF with WAW. I humbly think it would make a perfect sense to split JTW into two Eras:
- The Evolutionary Era (TEE) - 1946 (Post War) to 1980s
- TME (The Modern Era) - 1980s to Present
That way Evolutionary era can focus on the most rapid advancement of the aircraft technologies with still flawed Air to air missiles that can be spoofed easily in the 1960s - 1970s, and still have a chance to spoof them in the 1980s as well. The pure dogfight skills are still a must. The 'hot rod' style aircraft is what this era is all about. That way modders can expand this era with historical, prototype / planned aircraft, and 'what if' user designed aircraft. This era also includes the mixture of unguided AAAs and early radar guided AAA and SAMs. Even the SAMs can be spoofed as well. But they become much more deadly toward the end of 1970s / 1980s though. TEE is Perfect for experiencing the most rapid growth in the evolutionary of aircraft and weapons.
The modern era is where the most advanced technologies is at. The missiles are most deadly and the pilots would be wise to use jammer, chaff/ flare, and tactics to dodge the missiles while launching the missiles at enemy aircraft. It is also where the radar guided AAAs and SAMs are present. Hence, it focus on modern era.
