I've been thinking of a term for the transition between Steampunk and Dieselpunk. Steampunk is typically Victorian Era with an industrial clockwork twist while Dieselpunk seems to jump immediately to a more modern post-WWI aesthetic.

I figured a good term for something in between (late 1800s to early 1900s) would be "Petrolpunk." Diesel was still in its infancy in this time period and steam was still a mainstay, but almost everything was starting to use gasoline and more robust industrial components.

That is an interesting idea! Petrolpunk... I like it!

UPDATE: The name of thread is changed. From now on, this thread is known as Steampunk era and Petrolpunk era.
